I want to try something new and start posting about new books that are on my hitlist right before FOC. These can be reader books, books that might heat up or just books I want to check out.
This edition I’m going to spotlight Strange Skies Over East Berlin #1 out from BOOM! Studios. As most of you probably know, I’m big on the indie and small publisher books, so this book has got me pumped cause it also involves some science fiction fantasy.
Cold War + Spies + Aliens = Potential Greatness if you ask me.
If you like the interior art of Redneck, this one should suit you as the interiors are being done by Lisandro Estherren.
I actually obtained an advanced review copy and I must say, it was a great read. Looking forward to seeing where this story continues on. It’s even almost got a Stranger Things type of vibe and creepiness to it potentially.
MANKIND MADE IT TO SPACE. AND NOW SPACE HAS FOLLOWED THEM BACK.
Herring is a disillusioned American spy stationed on the eastern side of the Berlin Wall, struggling with his role in a Cold War that seems to have no end. But when he’s sent on a mission behind enemy lines to infiltrate East German intelligence, he soon learns the Soviets have a secret weapon that could change the tides of the conflict: an alien monster that they don’t understand, and can’t control.
The Soviets are about to learn that they’re not in charge of the monster it’s already in their minds and has twisted them to their will. Now now Herring must find a way to understand the impossible before it transforms him into a monster unlike any other.
Writer Jeff Loveness ( Judas ) and Lisandro Estherren ( Redneck ) team up for a story in the spirit of Cold War classics, for fans of period piece science fiction as well as alien action such as Barrier.
This one also has a FOC cover available now for orders but like the regular cover, FOC is this Monday September 9th, 2019.
Here’s a peek at the FOC cover available.
You can also pre-order issue #2 that hits shops in early November as this series got me excited.
The danger increases as Herring comes face to face with his nemesis, Keiner! Herring has infiltrated the bunker beneath East Berlin, where research on the mysterious being that fell from the sky has already begun, only to find an old enemy already inside. As the monster’s true powers begin to emerge, can Herring keep his cover disguised from Keiner long enough to discover what is truly hidden in the bunker?
