Previews gives us a glimpse of what’s to come. Here’s the spotlight of new books coming out of October Previews for the smaller publishers, which consists of Dark Horse, Image, IDW, Dynamite and others that are usually creator owned but still considered bigger than the small guys when it comes to publishing numbers.
This first book coming out of Dark Horse really has my interest if the writing is on par. I absolutely welcome some good murder mystery and drama stories but mixing this in the WWII era makes this one potentially special for me. I really enjoy Dean Kotz’s artwork on Mars Attacks so that’s another bonus for this book.
The Butcher of Paris #1

In 1944, as Swastikas flew over Paris, one of the most notorious and prolific serial killers in history turned the occupied city into his personal hunting ground.Under the guise of opportunity and freedom, a killer preys on those desperate to flee . . . until a gruesome discovery alerts the police.
In a city on the brink of war, the hunt for a serial killer begins as a French detective races to catch the villain before the Nazis beat him to it.
Written by Stephanie Phillips (Descendent, Devil Within) with art by Dean Kotz (Mars Attacks), The Butcher of Paris is a historical, true crime thriller about a killer wanted by both the Nazis and allied forces for the death of nearly two hundred victims.
Fans of Harrow County should be celebrating it’s return with a new 4 issue mini-series. I first learned about this in NYCC after it was leaked news from the Diamond Retailer Breakfast. Although, not really big enough for it’s own press release, now you’re hearing about it if you don’t read Previews.

Books that come out after a hit show usually don’t do that well, unless of course it’s Rick & Morty. But I love the stories about illegal drugs and smuggling, especially based on true stories. It’s crazy what people will go at great lengths to make a few bucks…

I’m not so sure about this next title. Seems like it might make an interesting show but not sure how it will fair as a comic book. But it could be a surprise entertaining read if done right.

The Boys on Amazon was a great show. I rarely binge watch shows but this one was great, finished it in two nights. So when a dollar edition of #1 hits stands, it’s a cheap pickup for those that missed out on the first printing.
And this is actually the first Dynamite #1 for this book, since they took over with issue #7.

Vampirella #6 (Cover A – Lau Enhanced Acetate)

Seduction of The Innocent Book Six: Vampirella’s love life becomes a major impediment to her mission as obsessed suitors both past and present attempt to manipulate her into furthering their goals.
Meanwhile, the Blood Red Queen of Hearts teaches the newly resurrected Mistress Nyx a painful lesson. Anything that can happen…does!
There’s also a bunch of very limited foil dressing variants of this cover one can choose from, if you got the dough to fork over for them.
One of the few Image issue ones coming out that is a brand new title, not a continuing volume or existing story arc. Could be a good read, but Image books by relatively new writers and artists I approach with caution.
