October Previews 2019 – Marvel Spotlight Books

Previews gives us a glimpse of what’s to come. Here’s the spotlight of new books coming out of October Previews for Marvel.

Marvel has around 240 books in the October Previews. Here’s my small glimpse of the ones I’m looking forward to.

I’m just going to start off with my top pick (the rest are in no particular order) as it’s cover is just awesome. Even if it wasn’t a Venom book I’d still pick it up for the cover.

Venom #21

Once upon a time we had Spider Island, now comes the time we have Venom Island.

I expect this will kick off the events after Venom #20 where we might finally get introduced to Dylan and his Symbiote.

Buy this next one if you love J Scott Campbell. Don’t buy it if you’re tired of J Scott Campbell. He has his fans and I can see this one grabbing their attention.

Black Cat #7

Buy from Pymccomics.com

The Black Cat finally takes on Odessa Drake and the Thieves Guild of New York!

If Felicia has any chance of getting back her kidnapped mentor, The Black Fox, she’s going to have to take on an army of ninjas and a cabal of wizards. No sweat, right? Rated T

The cover makes me want to know what’s going on in this next book, if it’s related to the story which isn’t always the case with some cover art. And is that Thor on the cover?

Avengers #28

Buy from Pymccomics.com

A mysterious new wielder of the all-powerful, cosmic super-weapon the Starbrand has arisen inside a space prison the size of a galaxy, drawing the attention of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, along with some of the most powerful figures from beyond the stars.

Behold the coming of the Three Heralds. Also, Thor is a Brood now… Rated T+

I really dig some of the facsimile covers. This one is for all you that don’t want to fork over the money for an actual first print that heated up within the past year or so due to the movie buzz.

Eternals #1 Facsimile Edition

In 1976, the legendary King of comics Jack Kirby returned to Marvel brimming with cosmic ideas – and none were bigger than the Earth-shattering immortals known as the Eternals!

In this mind-blowing first issue, Kirby unleashes the full brilliance of his unbridled imagination to reveal a secret history of heroes and horrors – in which two bizarre branches of humanity’s cousins, the Eternals and the Deviants, vie to inherit the Earth!

Prepare to meet Ikaris, Warlord Kro, and a colorful cast full of titans and terrors that could only have been conceived by the King himself! It’s one of the all-time great Marvel comic books, boldly re-presented in its original form, ads and all! Reprinting ETERNALS (1976) #1. Rated T

Here’s another Eternals book, likely being pushed by Marvel for the new movie hitting theaters next year. Still a great pickup for those wanting to read more on these celestial beings entering the MCU.

Collecting material from What If? (1977) #23 – 30. Rated T

This series has my attention as I want to see what comes out of the story line. We got Star out of it so far and supposedly an Avenger is going to die by the hands of Captain Marvel.

‘THE LAST AVENGER’ PART 2: FIVE TO GO. One Avenger is dead at Captain Marvel’s hand.

Who will be next? And why?

There’s also a Inhyuk Lee Connecting Variant which might not disappoint once they release the cover art.

King Thor continues. One of the best team-ups ever finish out their last story arc together for Thor.

The sun has gone black. Midgard isn’t far behind. The entire Multiverse is dying – and with it, the last of the gods.

A millennium ago, the God of Thunder heard a whisper: ‘Gorr was right.’ Now Gorr the God of God-Butchers ascends to his final murder: the All-Father of all existence.

Plus, a who’s who of Jason’s past THOR collaborators and a few surprise guests help close out the story in thunderous style! Rated T+

There’s also a Del Mundo variant and then the ratio’d Epting variant available.

It’s an event book but sometimes big things come out of such titles. It carries a hefty $7.99 price tag as well.

I’m not usually big on the more computer generated looking art and covers but I like this one. I also enjoy Mooney’s art as well, as he’s on interiors for this new Black Widow series.

Iron Man. Winter Soldier. Yelena Belova.

The Widow is running down the names of her past – and few are more important than Clint Barton, A.K.A. Hawkeye.

Natasha has always been Clint’s weakness. But this time, the femme fatale may find herself outmatched. Rated T+

I was a big Conan reader back in the day. Not so much nowadays but I’m looking forward to this new series.

After the explosive events of last issue, the Brothers Ghost Rider will never be the same!

Morbius is getting his own movie from Sony. So it’s not surprising that Marvel is kicking off a new title because you know, product and sales of such product keep companies in business.

The Melter is the first in a line of victims for the Living Vampire! Rated T+

I also read online that there could be a new first appearance of a pretty cool character coming out of #1, which could lead into a first full in this issue.

Only because it’s Star Wars and most might not realize that the comic book actually pre-dates the movie in terms of release date.
