By The Numbers: March Retailer Exclusives for Marvel Comics

This list has been provided to retailers for a few weeks now. Most who are going to “buy in” have already done so. But for us speculators, its interesting to know whats out there and what could potentially be a factor in our flipping.

Having an idea of how many cheap ratios will hit the market as well as the inflated print run numbers is a big factor when considering books that are being flipped for profit.

This is by no means a definitive list, just what could potentially be.

MARCH RETAILER EXCLUSIVE VARIANT COVERS

Jessica Drew Returns! SPIDER-WOMAN #1 is now available for retailer exclusive variants!

MARVEL #1 (Orders due 1/31)

SPIDER-MAN NOIR #1 (Orders due 1/31)

STRANGE ACADEMY #1 (Orders due 1/31)

I had high hopes for Strange Academy speculation wise. Some first appearances, a decent story, Great art. Knowing that there will be store variants kills it for me though. Will be a ton of ratios out there.

CABLE #1 (Orders due 2/7)

OUTLAWED #1 (Orders due 2/14)

HELLIONS #1 (Orders due 2/21)

So again, this is just a list of potential comics that could see Store Variants. Whatever happens happens. Good luck and Happy Hunting!

  1. looking like we might be only people that did strange academy, at least I not seen any other covers or heard any other retailers i know mention it

      1. I like the majority of her stuff, I can’t say I like all of her work though, some click and others not so much. I try to take different perspectives with artists different styles. I also think to myself, could I draw it better than they could before I criticize the artwork? I’ve seen children drawings however, her work I think is far from children artwork.

  2. So we have one person claiming she draws like a child. We have another claiming hat half the people that buy her covers are just doing because they are sheep. Great arguments, I mean stellar. I have one I’ll just throw out there. Maybe, just maybe, people really like her covers and her art style. Maybe, just maybe, she is talented and people see value in that.

But hey what do I know.

    1. I’m all for constructive criticism but yeah, when the argument is presented as “draws like a child” or “people who buy her stuff are just sheep”.. I can’t follow such tactics. Gotta bring a bit more the the debate if you ask me.

And who cares if you like the art or not, if you’re only flipping, buy low, sell high. If you buy cause you like the cover art and you collect, buy what you like, don’t buy what you don’t like.

  3. I like the art. But my argument is this: shes the flavor of the month. As long as she sells and is popular, she will be hot for as long as shes hot until the next artist is discovered. Until then buy sell or keep whatever covers float your boat.

    1. Just to clarify, Dr.Claw, your argument is; that she is a hot artist because her books sell, and she will stay hot until she isn’t hot?….this just in….water is wet. ??. (all in good fun)

  4. She literally is a “hot” artist ?
But seriously. U see alot of “burn out” on artists when their work is all over the place. While its good for the artist, consumers tend to get tired of having “the same thing”
Case in point : js campbel. I love his work but im tired of seeing it on covers.

    1. JSC has had, and still has, a large and very loyal fanbase. I personally don’t like JSC, but comparing him to Momokos is like comparing Lamar Jackson to Joe Namath. One is new and hot, the other is somewhat of a legend with a loyal, long running fanbase.

I see what your saying, Mike. I fully completly understand that something, anything, is popular until it’s not popular, that’s pretty straight forward, my friend. ? JSC has had consistent demand for a while now, decades even. I would not compare him to a ‘flash in the pan’. (And I’m not implying that Momoko is a flash in the pan, that is yet to be determined). ?
