Poyo’s Trade and Hardcover Picks of the Week

We shouldn’t just collect or flip books, we should also read them. A good story can make your purchase well worth the money spent if you ask me. After all, we buy books to read for entertainment right? Even if you can’t flip them, reading is just as rewarding.

We tend to focus on mostly the floppy copies each week and kind of ignore the trades and hardcovers that come out week after week.

I love the old EC comics. Great classic reading and buying the hardcover is the only real way to read these books, even if you can afford the individual books, who would want to handle them to read.

The EC Archives: Psychoanalysis HC

A journey into the subconscious minds of three people searching for answers and peace through personal turmoil.

This hardcover volume collects the complete run of Psychoanalysis, recolored digitally using the original palette and featuring art by legendary comics talent Jack Kamen and stories written by Daniel Keyes (Flowers for Algernon)!

Pestilence was awesome. It would make an even awesome movie or television series I think. If you haven’t read these, buying the complete series in hardcover is likely the way to go.

I love original graphic novels and yes, hard ass Poyo (I’m a big softie at times) can dig some real world drama story that brings two people together.

Strange Ones GN

Anjeline walks with an open heart, but alone, through a world that consistently rejects her; Franck, another loner, never smiles.

After the hand of fate literally shoves them together in the roiling mosh pit at a Midtown rock concert, they bond over the long commute back to Staten Island, and begin a friendship that makes the world a little better for them both.

Together, this strange pair turns the sharp-edged, gloomy New York City into their playground… even as pain and heartbreak await around the corner.
