One to Watch Aggretsuko #1

As the saying goes, being forewarned is forearmed. Make sure to check your local comic shop this Wednesday for Aggretsuko #1 from Oni Press.

The book is already sold out at TFAW and Midtown. Listings for Aggretsuko #1 have hit $20 steadily with a high set sale at best offer on a $75 listing for a set (closed at $36.99). Not bad for a book coming out this Wednesday.

So what is the book about?

Sanrio and Oni Press join forces to bring Aggretsuko to comics for the first time! Aggretsuko, the hit Netflix show in production for season three, stars Retsuko the Red Panda, a young office worker stuck in a thankless job, whose only stress release is singing heavy metal at the local karaoke joint. With the help of her friends, can she ever find the job satisfaction she craves – – not to mention adventure, the approval of her mother, and even… love?! These comics explore all these issues and more, brought to life by today’s top talent!

    1. I’ve been watching this one since Wednesday of last week. I noticed it sold out pretty quickly at Midtown last week. I will admit, it’s in my spec picks for tonight but yeah, earlier info is better info.

It does seem like Oni will pump out a hit (spec) every couple of years. This one might be it this round. The last one was Rick and Morty. The one before that was Letter 44.

      1. The site didn’t limit my order, we’ll see what happens… Shipping cost not calculated yet, marked as “TBC” – won’t be surprised if I get hosed but hey it’s worth a shot…

        1. They usually contact you before they ship via email to confirm shipping costs…that’s been my experience. They didn’t package the books well (flat envelope, not well protected…corners were dented).

  1. Very long shipping in my experience with them also only ship one copy no matter how many you order if I remember right.

  2. I pre-ordered this from DCBS. I find the show awkwardly interesting, but so brief. I wanted to check out the book to see what they do with it. One I almost pre-ordered was the Gudetama book, but I couldn’t tell from the solicitation whether it was actually a Comic Book or just a traditional book with text accompanied by art, so I passed it up. That is another Sanrio property that has been recently popular, but not yet in the comic book medium.
