Mycomicshop.com Reopening

Mycomicshop.com closed down at the beginning of April due to state restrictions and a lack of new product coming out. Just got word that they are reopening in time for new product hitting shelves at the end of April.

After being closed since April 2, we are now open again and accepting orders! If you’re looking for any ideas, we have updated our home page with hundreds of links to recommended one-shots, popular titles, $1 comics, and best-selling graphic novels to help get you through long weeks at home.

We’re also resuming our auction schedule, with a new weekly auction opening for bidding Monday, April 20th, and our huge April Prime Auction opening the following week starting April 27th, featuring Batman #1 CGC 4.0 with a signed note from Bob Kane on the back cover!

Thank you for your patronage and support! Best wishes to all of you through this stressful time.

Best,

Conan Saunders

      1. They took a hit no doubt but MCS is pretty big. I don’t think they’re one of those shops that would fold as easily as some of the other smaller shops.

I’d definitely rank MCS as in the top 5 comic shops, probably based on volume they sale more than likely. But that’s just a guess, since I don’t know their financials.

        1. Some folks want closure until there 0 reported cases and a cure. No business… even MCS…. can survive that long

          1. I’m not all for the 0 cases to reopen stuff, as long as they’re contained and controlled but yeah, sadly, I put human life above economy. Money we can replace. Businesses we can replace or rebuild. Humans are not replaceable. It’s a simple choice if you ask me.

            1. I agree – human life is obviously more important. Well just have to agree to disagree when that perfect time is. Clearly MCS believes it to be now and I will support them for leading that effort

              1. There’s not a perfect time to be honest, no one knows the perfect time. But they’re opening cause the governor laid out plans and is allowing it. So yeah, they want to get back to work. I just hope the plans to reopen dont back fire.

                1. At one time Buddy Saunders owned 7 brick stores, ran mail order service for almost a decade prior to that, is an author of several books. He sold the chain of stores and MCS is primarily only an online retailer now thru their website. Yeah, I’m willing to bet he could last a while longer… ๐Ÿ˜‰

          2. You don’t need 0 cases. Stringent testing and stringent contact tracing is what a society needs in order to function while minimizing the impact from the virus on our societies, until there is a vaccine.

There are already some countries who have implemented these measures, and some of those nations have begun to start ‘opening’ up their respective nations with businesses and schools. The USA will require both the measures mentioned above to be fully in place, by the federal govt (for coordination purposes), before they can even begin to open up. Florida will be a great example of this. Florida’s Governor, yesterday, reopened all the beaches. Florida does not have nearly enough daily testing and it has minimal contact tracing (if any) in place. Florida will continue to be a hotspot for this virus as long as their systems for containing the virus remain woefully inadequate, as they currently are. M2c.

            1. The problem is, politicians are putting economy over lives. They need good economic numbers to stay in office. They know voters will blame them and we should blame them. Their actions and policies will save lives. Like I said in another comment, lives are more important than our fake man made economy based on materials that do not provide basic necessities to keep us alive.

              1. If adequate testing and contract tracing are not in place, Tony, then any city/state/town who doesn’t have social distancing in place will incur a resurgence in the virus, despite any consecutive streak of reduced cases/deaths/hospitalization. In order to fight the ‘invisible enemy’, you must know where the enemy is, aka adequate testing and contact tracing.

                1. Also, the reports that people who have had it and supposedly recovered from it are now testing positive again for it? Makes one wonder, does it ever leave? Could those who get infected and recover are now carriers of the virus moving forward? For me, that’s concerning. Is this the type of virus that the world has to get, we suffer many losses just to move on to adapt and become immune? That’s truly a scary thought.

                2. Maryland has had excellent contact tracing. The problem is secondary flare ups are occurring and that is not good news. We need to learn from what is going on in China and button things down a whole.

  1. If you have a Republican governor you will go back to work and deal with it, if you have a Democrat governor you will stay home and collect unemployment and deal with it. Where I live just started to get in the thick of it 5 cases two weeks ago 105+ cases today most are from hospital employees and church goers. 105 doesnโ€™t seem like much but the island population is about 80k with no tourists and we getting multiple new cases everyday now.

    1. Harsh but fair.

Completely impartially, I feel like every decision mycomicshop makes revolves around them being Texans. Yes, especially in this case but you know what I mean. And I’m sure they’ll be glad to start charging people for those ridiculous auctions they have where they sell an 8.0 book for more than one they already had in stock.

    2. The virus is highly contagious and communicable. If Hawaii has 105 confirmed cases, then that means there are at least 1000 people who are infected and asymptomatic and walking around unwillingly spreading the virus. I believe the USAs numbers have plateaued because the testing system is maxed out, not because the curve is being flattened. M2c.

      1. It’s amazing to me that there’s 100 in all of Hawai’i, and 100 in just the county where I live right now. Either people are not reporting, or the virus is reaching my door any second.

        1. Or you already got it and don’t carry any symptoms. This virus is not treating everyone the same. I truly think there are carriers out there that might not ever get any of the symptoms that give one a clue that they’re actually sick.

          1. I should have booked that trip so I’d get suck in paradise. I can social distance and keep to myself on a beach under a palm tree for months or years.. sounds great.. someone come find me when this is all over. I’ll probably look like Tom Hanks did in Cast Away! ๐Ÿ™‚
