Welcome to my own weekly spec which includes my weekly drek picks. I pick what I think will be winners, not only if you make money by flipping but winners as in either a great read or just awesome art.
Then there’s the pesky drek, the comic you should avoid altogether or not fall into the buying every variant trap.
It’s been almost exactly 2 months now since we had a normal release week for comics.
DC Picks
It’s the 3rd printing but those on the Punchline bandwagon will certainly be picking these Year of the Villain Hell Arisen #3 new printing. You can still find the 2nd prints available along with the Dynamic Forces signed by Tynion (not sure what printing these will be considered).
I don’t expect much heat out of this one but could prove worthy in the long run if Punchline popularity sticks.
The other DC pick goes to the reader pick with Plunge #3. Great new series by Joe Hill. I read the first issue but held off in reading #2 before the delays, so hopefully this one didn’t interrupt your flow of reading it too much if you couldn’t wait to read.
Marvel Picks
Sadly, Marvel isn’t shipping any books this week. We don’t have to worry about Marvel though, they got plenty of money and this pandemic likely didn’t interrupt any cash flows for them, particularly since Disney has a huge percentage of the world’s money already in their bank accounts.
Indie and Small Publisher Picks
The first pick goes to Star Wars Adventures Clone Wars #1. Don’t expect these to heat up, more of the read for you Star Wars nerds who gobble up everything Star Wars.
Seems like it’s taking forever for these books to actually hit the shelves. From AWA Studios, we finally get the full first issue of Year Zero #1. Both covers are sold out at Midtown already while TFAW has them available.
I’m really digging the variant wrap around cover.
The last pick goes to a book that saw some heat but we’ll have to watch and see what happens with these additional printings.
BANG! #1 3rd Printing hits shelves this week. The one thing this has going for it is that it has a new cover.
Pick it up if you like the series and want to collect all the printings and covers but I’d limit how many you buy to just 1 or 2 tops. I only say 2 as if this ever gets optioned or makes it to our screens, could turn into a little extra profit.
I’ve got no dreks this week. After this pandemic with shutdowns and delays, I can’t be hat’in on any books. Just don’t have it in me and I’ll just have to ease my way back into the books you should just avoid or limit yourself.
Comics return, yah!
Ordered Year Zero both covers and Plunge
Been waiting 110 days for my tax return finally got ahold of a real person at the IRS and my employer never submitted my taxes to the IRS or social security
I haven’t even filed.. I’ll owe so now that they delayed IRS tax day until July 15th, they can wait until then to get their money 😉
That the same employer that laid you off for being pregnant?
