It has been a few weeks since we have done one of these spotlights on cheaper slabs out there for sale on eBay. So it was time to highlight some cool books.
Please note, these are for fun. We do not expect them to become super expensive books, but it is a search I often find key and cool books on for cheap. They are a great grab for the personal collection.
All the books listed below are $30 and cheaper (before shipping).
I am gonna start off with a really interesting one. Not sure if this one was talked about over on the forum or was something I saw in a Facebook group, but surely an interesting slab.
Spawn #300 9.8 – What makes this one so interesting is the book came back from CGC with damage to the back corner of the cover, clearly not a 9.8. The seller says “the inner sleeve broke during shipment” but could have been a qc problem not picked up on, or one of a million things that could have happened. Anyway, $19.99 for this one.
Dynamic Forces Battle of the Planets #1 – a CGC 9.6, with certificate included. With the only other graded copy on eBay currently at 9.8 luted at over $140 and raw copies listed at almost as much as this slab, the $19.99 buy in doesn’t look so bad.
Venom #25 2nd Print Variant – this one you will have to check the graders notes on, and not sure if it was just a bad copy of the book in a stack they sent in, but this one came back as a 8.0. Anyway, raw copies are listed for more than the $19 buy in on this one. There is also a Venom #151 on eBay with that great Mary Jane as Venom cover that came back a head shaking 8.0 as well, that one is $28.50.
Star Wars Outlander #12 Dynamic Forces Variant – this is another one where raw copies are listed at almost as much as the slab. This 9.6 is just above the cheap slabs limit of $30, at $34.99, but is interesting at the price.
Boba Fett Enemy of the State #4 – another Star Wars book, this 9.4 is $24.99 and has a great Boba Fett cover. (Fett’s leg being gnawed on by a wolf-man like alien)
Dark Horse Presents #4 – the first appearance of Resident Alien, which has a tv show coming out on SYFY that looks decent. This 9.2 is $27.99.
Amazing Spider-Man #344 Newsstand First appearance of Cletus Kasady. Venom movie, Carnage coming… 8.5 for $29.99
Batman #94 – Punchline, is she still a thing? She appears on this Mattina cover for Batman #94. 9.8 at $29.99.
Dark Nights Death Metal Legends of the Dark Knight #1 – Death Metal was a big pre-order book. This one is graded at a 9.2 for $24.99.
Mickey Mantel Comics #1 – this is just a sentimental favorite for me. Graded at a 9.6, there are raw copies listed above what this PGX copy is listed at. $16.99 brings this one home.
