Poyo’s Spec & Picks for August 24th, 2022

Welcome to this weeks spec. This is where we pick the winners each week we (or shall I say myself) think will be spec worthy, a great read or just cool looking art on the cover.

Marvel Picks

I’m really liking this Amazing Spider-Man #8 Gleason 1:25 Variant.

Damage Control #1 (of 5) I hope is a fun read. Only one way to find out, pick up a copy to read. I also like the fact that this one had/has only two covers from the publisher and no ratios (not counting any store exclusives out there if any).

Damage Control #1 (of 5) (Robson Variant)

Damage Control #1 (of 5)

Darth Vader #26 is a no brainer, particularly for the regular Rahzzah cover. Already sold out at TFAW.

Star Wars Darth Vader #26 (Maleev Variant)
Star Wars Darth Vader #26 (Sprouse Choose Your Destiny Variant)

DC Picks

Detective Comics #27 Facsimile is a must, since none of us will ever own a minty fresh copy for ourselves.

I like a good homage to The Killing Joke, so Harley Quinn #21 (Cover C – Ryan Sook Homage Card Stock Variant) makes the cut. I just hope they don’t overdo this homage and it starts showing up everywhere..

Harley Quinn #21 (Cover C - Ryan Sook Homage Card Stock Variant)

Harley Quinn #21 Orzu is pretty awesome as well. I really like this one.

Indie and Small Publisher Picks

Minor Threats #1 could be decent if the writing is good. I’m gonna give it a go more than likely.

Minor Threats #1 (Mike Mignola with Dave Stewart Variant Cover)
Minor Threats #1 (Variant Cover)
Minor Threats #1 (Cover D – FOC Ward Variant)

Minor Threats #1

Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories #1 for all you Star Wars fans out there, a no brainer pickup.

Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories #1 (Miguel Valderrama Variant Cover)

Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories #1

It’s a new Vault title, they’re hit or miss. But End After End #1 (Cover A – Sunando) I’ll be likely checking out or skimming to see if it’s worthy.

End After End #1 (Cover B – Kangas)

End After End #1 (Cover A - Sunando)

For the fans of Evanescence comes Evanescence From the Void #1 from Opus Comics, which likely got overlooked by a lot of shops and if fans weren’t aware, could be seeking these out. Could be a title to watch.
