CovrPrice.Com Runners-Up for Week of 6/30/23

As promised, the Covrprice.com runners-up list. The second half of the Top 20.

#11 ULTIMATE FALLOUT #4 | MARVEL | 2011
What is left to say about Miles? His first appearance is considered to be the modern-age grail of grails. As its value continues to grow, fans’ interest also does. We tracked 27 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 93%, with a high sale of $1,982 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw NM FMV of $488.

#12 MARVEL SUPER-HEROES SECRET WARS #1 | MARVEL | 1984
This on-again-off-again issue finds its way back onto the runner-up list. Since it shares a title with the future Marvel film SECRET WARS, this is a steady aftermarket seller amongst speculators and key issue collectors. Along with an iconic cover, this book’s first appearance of the Beyonder marks a character with tremendous potential as Marvel considers their “what to do about Kang” options amidst the legal troubles of actor Jonathan Majors. We tracked 15 copies with a 7-day trend of 213% and a high sale of $335 for a CGC 9.8 copy with an NM FMV of $36.

#13 SPIDER-PUNK #2 – TAKASHI OKAZAKI | MARVEL | 2022
Spider-Punk has grown immensely in popularity since the debut of Across the Spider-Verse. Many collectors have picked up his first appearance and the first issue in his solo series. The first issue seemed captivating enough that people wanted to know more about Hobie’s world. This isn’t an important issue in Spider-Punk’s story (at least not yet). However, it is still a minor key in that it is the first full appearance of the punk universe version of Taskmaster. We’ve seen an increased interest in all things Spider-Punk. We tracked 32 copies sold at a 7-day trend of 153%, with a high sale of $56 for a CGC 9.8 and a current raw NM FMV of $5.

#14 SPAWN #1 | IMAGE | 1992
Would you look at that? Spawn makes an appearance on our lists once more! This book is arguably the most consistent mover in the hobby, as it has been for years, and if the market is any indication, it will continue to be so. People love the character, the Toddfather, and everything this book symbolizes. A badass hellspawn working on society’s seedy criminal (and sometimes supernatural) underbelly! We tracked 31 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 108%, with a high sale of $165 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw NM FMV of $30.

#15 ROM #1 | MARVEL | 1979
It has been quite a journey for our interstellar friend. The Space Knight may have started as a toy, but Marvel writer Bill Mantlo gave the character a background that integrated him into the Marvel Universe. Unfortunately, Rom switched hands to IDW and was forgotten from the Marvel comic world… until recently. Rom is set to make his grand return to Marvel, and Marvel is celebrating by releasing an omnibus for the character in January 2024. There’s a ton of hype on the socials, and it’s likely his first appearance is being bought up in anticipation that his popularity will soar with time! We tracked 11 copies sold at a 7-day trend of 199%, with a high sale of $325 for a CGC 9.8 and a current VF raw FMV of $45.

#16 SPIDER-MAN #7 – HUMBERTO RAMOS – 2ND PRINT – VIRGIN (1:25) | MARVEL | 2023
Dan Slott took to social media to hype up the first release of SPIDER-MAN 7. While many were able to preorder, just as many missed out. Additionally, the ratio cover for the 2nd print was a virgin cover of the first print, a desirable collectible for both those that possessed and missed out on the first printing. That led us to track 22 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 93%, with a high sale of $235 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a raw NM FMV of $43.

#17 VOID RIVALS #1 – DANIEL WARREN JOHNSON – SPOILER (1:100) | IMAGE | 2023
The debut of the Energon Universe took tons of fans by surprise. The reveal debuted a shared universe between Transformers and G.I. Joe.; while also revealing the return of Jetfire (a fan favorite!). While the reveal itself was a well-kept secret, the 1:100 spoiler cover was even more of a surprise. The cover spoiled the book, showcasing the imposing Transformers in all his glory. What a great cover to kick off an amazing crossover, sending this book to the top of the collector’s list! We tracked 18 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 115%, with a high sale of $250 for an NM+ raw copy and an NM FMV of $201.

#18 ULTIMATE FALLOUT #4 – SARA PICHELLI – 2ND PRINT | MARVEL | 2011
While the arguments go back and forth about which actor portrayed the more accurate version of Peter Parker, fans are united in their love of Miles Morales. While he has yet to have a live-action representation, the animated movies (and video games) have quickly turned Miles Morales into a household name. Many consider his first appearance to be a modern-day grail and also out of the budget of many collectors. The 2nd print of this book is a significantly more affordable price. This level of accessibility is likely why we tracked 18 copies sold at a 7-day trend of 105%, with a high sale of $225 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw NM FMV of $98.

#19 EDGE OF SPIDER-VERSE #5 | MARVEL | 2014
Peni Parker was one of the original variants to debut in Into the Spider-Verse. Fans of her variant noticed her clear absence in Across the Spider-Verse. Aside from a small cameo, we see little of her character. However, the final scene depicts her among the original variant team (along with a few new ones), ready to fight beside Miles. This was such an epic tease and a fantastic cliffhanger. We’re ready for Beyond the Spider-Verse! We tracked 15 copies sold at a 7-day trend of 123%, with a high sale of $199.95 for a CGC 9.8.

#20 THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #10 | MARVEL | 2014
While Spider-Man 2099 took the spotlight during Across the Spider-Verse, Spider-Punk was another fan favorite. The anarchist was the perfect antithesis to the rigid and militaristic version of Spider-Man 2099. His prominence in the movie was prevalent in his guidance of Miles’ new power and his assistance to Gwen (by providing a makeshift dimensional watch). He also appears at the film’s end, seemingly ready to fight on Miles’ side. Hobie Brown is the epitome of a wild card spider-variant and is fun to watch on the big screen. His first appearance has sold 17 copies, at a 7-day trend of 103%, with a high sale of $295 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a raw NM FMV of $82.
