CovrPrice.Com Runners-Up for Week of 9/14/23

As promised, the Covrprice.com runners-up list. The second half of the Top 20.

11. IMMORTAL X-MEN #15 – JOSHUA SWAY SWABY (1:25)
This X-Men run is doing right by telling a compelling story within this current run. It’s been reviewed highly, bringing on board multiple villains doing villainy things. That, and a killer splash page at the book’s end, has fans dying for more! Know what else has been reviewed highly? This 1:25 variant is from Joshua Sway. The community loves a good Emma Frost cover, and this book checks the boxes, leading us to track 15 copies sold at a 7-day trend of 97%, with a high sale of $51.16 for a raw copy and a current raw NM FMV of $42.

12. CATWOMAN: UNCOVERED #1 – BABS TARR (1:25)
This book is moving up the list! Considering how much the community loves a good Catwoman cover, it’s unsurprising. We’ve spotlighted numerous books on this list many times, and here we have a book consisting entirely of beloved Catwoman covers from multiple recent runs. It’s sleek and practical for those who don’t have the time or inclination to acquire each cover, and it’s Catwoman. Some might say it’s purrrrfict. That might be why we tracked 18 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 116%, with a high sale of $29.99 for a raw copy and a current raw NM FMV of $20.

13. THE INFINITY GAUNTLET VOL.1 #1
When the solicitation and covers were released for the upcoming Thanos series, fans couldn’t help but return to the inspiration for said covers in this book, with its legendary depiction of Thanos from George Perez, R.I.P. It’s still a genre-defining event that shook up the power scale of the Marvel Universe. Can that be replicated with this new series? That remains to be seen! We tracked 14 copies sold at a 7-day trend of 141%, with a high sale of $200 for a CGC 9.8 and a current raw NM FMV of $44.

14. TOXIC AVENGER VOL.1 #1
Fantastic Fest can’t come soon enough! Those lucky attendees will see the debut of a film that has flown under the radar. The Toxic Avenger! While he’s a Marvel character, this will be anything but a Marvel film. Fan hype has grown considerably with a cast featuring Peter Dinklage, Jacob Tremblay, Kevin Bacon, Julia Davis, and Elijah Wood, and a recent picture posted to the Legendary website. That’s led to many searching the aftermarket for a copy of the Toxic Avenger’s first appearance! We tracked 16 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 120%, with a high sale of $239 for a CGC 9.8 and a current raw NM FMV of $29.

15. MARVEL SUPER-HEROES SECRET WARS VOL.1 #1
This book was HOT when Marvel announced the title of the conclusive film for phase 6, SECRET WARS. No one knows which Secret Wars title would be adapted, but fans naturally turned to this book. It was the conception point for the epic run and featured the tentative first appearance of The Beyonder as a disembodied voice. The Beyonder has massive potential, as does this run, leading us to track 20 copies sold with a 7-day trend of 95% and a high sale of $279.99 for a CGC 9.8 copy with an NM FMV of $29.

16. X-MEN VOL.1 #4
Omega Red is a fan favorite and blossomed in value (thanks to countless rumors of appearing in the MCU during Phase Four) during the comic boom. That’s lessened dramatically, but recent rumors have propelled him into the limelight (again). Deadpool 3 strikes once more on this list, as a rumor that started in 2022 has recently reared its head again. Come on, Marvel, take notes. We tracked 17 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 108%, with a high sale of $135 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw NM FMV of $31.

17. THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN VOL.1 #300
You know what it is. This book is Venom’s first full appearance and origin. It’s a Todd McFarlane masterpiece. It’s a modern grail for many in the community, and it’s flirted with mainstay status on this list. We tracked 19 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 95%, with a high sale of $1,526 for a CGC 9.6 and a current raw NM FMV of $963.

18. MOON KNIGHT VOL.1 #1
This book has tumbled from its all-time high of $1,325 for a CGC 9.8 it achieved back in 2022. But it’s not like this book has disappeared. Quietly, it continued to move copies while the overall hype died down. It does something similar to WOLVERINE #1. It’s the first ongoing title and solo series for Moon Knight and is a much more affordable book than his first appearance. It also features the first appearance of Khonshu, a beloved character and a consensus bright spot from the Moon Knight series. We tracked 17 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 98%, with a high sale of $275 for a CGC 9.8 and a current raw VF FMV of $21.

19. THE UNCANNY X-MEN VOL.1 #266
Deadpool 3 has been the springboard for a ton of rumored castings. Most recently, it’s Taylor Swift as Dazzler, but before that, it was Channing Tatum as Gambit. That put this book smack dab in the middle of a genuine first-appearance debate. This book has continued to pull away in both sales volume and price in a head-to-head contest with X-Men Annual #14. Recently, we tracked 11 copies sold at a 7-day trend of 150%, with a high sale of $660 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw NM FMV of $150.

20. WOLVERINE #1
Wolverine has solidified himself as a fan favorite—that goes without saying. But, being a fan favorite drives people to want to collect his key issues. His first appearance is out of reach for most collectors, so is his second, and his limited series is on the rise, too. That leads many collectors to turn to this book, the first issue in his first ongoing series. We tracked 38 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 80%, with a high sale of $350 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a raw NM FMV of $71.
