CovrPrice.Com Runners-Up for Week of 10/6/23

As promised, the Covrprice.com runners-up list. The second half of the Top 20.

11. STAR WARS: DOCTOR APHRA #36 – E.M. GIST – STAR WARS CLONE WARS 15TH ANNIVERSARY AHSOKA
Ahsoka has been a fan-favorite since her debut in The Clone Wars. Although it may have started with mixed reviews, the AHSOKA series on Disney+ has attracted favorable reviews. E.M. Gist has now given this renowned character a beautifully illustrated cover. The value of this book is nearly double what a 1:100 retailer incentive typically sells for within a week of its debut. This book will likely increase in value as copies find their way home and the aftermarket looks scarce. We tracked 8 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 160%, with a high sale of $215 for an NM raw copy and a current raw NM FMV of $184.

12. BIRDS OF PREY #2 – OTTO SCHMIDT (1:50)
This book dropped Wednesday, and it triggered a frenzy of fans! Preorders for this book have skyrocketed to insane prices, and it’s all for that bubble gum cover. Bubble gum covers were a recently emerging collector’s item with a strong following. Likewise, Black Canary is a highly collectible comic character that usually pulls substantial value. Otto Schmidt illustrates a beautiful piece that many fans are already hunting down. We tracked 9 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 140%, with a high sale of $199.99 for an NM raw copy and a current raw NM FMV of $162.

13. MARVEL SUPER-HEROES SECRET WARS VOL.1 #8 – DIRECT
The MCU has been teasing a symbiote storyline for Spider-Man for quite a while. From leaks, rumors, and confirmation (thanks, Tom Hardy!) of the alien symbiote, fans are using all these details to scoop up copies of the black suit Spidey! We have seen this book swing back and forth from top ten to runner-ups. However, it is a regular fixture on the top 20 list. We may see another boost in sales when Spider-Man 2 releases on PS5 on October 20th! We tracked 29 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 100%, with a high sale of $444.44 for an NM+/MT raw copy and a raw VF FMV of $184.

14. SONIC THE HEDGEHOG: AMY’S 30TH ANNIVERSARY #1 – JENNIFER HERNANDEZ – COVER RI (1:10)
This week, Sonic’s self-proclaimed love interest, the beloved Amy Rose, makes her return. Amy first appeared in Sonic The Comic #21, published by Fleetway Publications in 1993, and has been a popular character ever since. Fortunately, her 30th Anniversary special only featured a few ratios, allowing us to revel in this week’s 1:10 copy. We tracked 13 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 143%, with a high sale of $35.95 for a raw copy and a current raw NM FMV of $20.

15. VENOM: LETHAL PROTECTOR VOL.1 #1 – REGULAR
Venom may have become a hero in continuity, but he is still recognized as one of Spider-Man’s best villains. This book marks the first issue in Venom’s solo series. It sports a fantastic cover that is both cardstock and foil. This type of material is hard to press and, therefore, ends up difficult to find in a high grade. We tracked 21 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 118%, with a high sale of $135.50 for a CGC 9.8 and a current raw NM FMV of $19.

16. SWAMP THING VOL.3 #9
For collectors of Swamp Thing, Bernard Wrightson is a household name. Back in HOUSE OF SECRETS #92, Wrightson introduced the comic world to a new hero from the moss-ridden depths of the bog. Swamp Thing was a notable hit and went on to have an ongoing series shortly after his debut. Since the appointment of James Gunn as co-chief of DC Studios, Swamp Thing has seen renewed interest. DCU’s Chapter 1 – Gods and Monsters will include the infamous Swamp Thing. This issue offers collectors a classic cover for one of the DCU’s All-Stars! We tracked 11 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 216%, with a high sale of $449 for a CGC 9.8 and a current raw NM FMV of $87.

17. THE OMEGA MEN VOL.1 #3
Rumors are the lifeblood of the speculation market. The latest rumor has to do with Lobo appearing in Superman: Legacy. Jason Momoa, a fan-favorite casting, is said to be considered for the role. Nothing has been confirmed, and no official statements have denied this rumor. For now, this rumor still has tons of fuel to continue making this book hot! We tracked 17 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 127%, with a high sale of $395.95 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a raw NM FMV of $65.

18. WOLVERINE #1
Deadpool 3 has caused a lot of Wolverine books to make our top lists. This book marks the first ongoing solo series for Wolverine. While Wolverine’s first appearance may be out of reach for most collectors, the first issue of his solo series is a more accessible item to collect. Plus, it is one of the most recognizable covers in Wolverine’s history! We tracked 27 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 78%, with a high sale of $395 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a raw NM FMV of $67.

19. ULTIMATE FALLOUT #4
Miles Morales is the most popular spider-variant in the Spider-Verse. He debuted in the Ultimate universe and was later merged into the recent continuity through the events of the second Secret War. However, Marvel announced they are revisiting the Ultimate universe in the comics again. What new and returning challenges will Miles need to overcome when he faces his old universe? Until those answers emerge, we will have to reread Miles’ first appearance in this issue! We tracked 18 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 99%, with a high sale of $1,849 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw NM FMV of $425.

20. PREDATOR VS WOLVERINE #1 – ALEX MALEEV – VIRGIN (1:100)
Wolverine has always been a popular character. However, as of late, his character has soared in popularity as we all anticipate his debut in Deadpool 3. PREDATOR VS WOLVERINE was also a highly anticipated title. Two legendary hunters pitted against one another was a surefire win. A highly sought-after cover artist like Alex Maleev makes this a great collector’s item. It’s also a virgin cover and a retailer incentive. Need we say more? This cover has a lot going for it! We tracked 17 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 102%, with a high sale of $102 for a raw copy and a current raw NM FMV of $75.
