FOC Supplement for 11/12/23

D-Rog has been doing a great job with his Dirty D’s FOC posts. I wanted to spotlight some books I think are worth taking a look at.

Some additional Star Wars books, as well as another sci-fi franchise worth looking at. DNA with a knockout cover. Plus, some new series. Check out what I am eyeing on FOC.

Masterpiece #1 – From the Eisner award-winning creators behind Daredevil and Scarlet, Alex Maleev and Brian Michael Bendis, comes an all-new crime comic epic!!

Kid Venom Origins #1 – Collects the four parts from Death of Venomverse as one cohesive story.

Miguel Ohara Spider-Man 2099 #1 – Spider-Man 2099 vs Monsters, includes some new takes on Marvel characters, plus Marvel Zombies 2099.

Gumaa Beginning of Her #1 Jee Hyung Lee and Sozomaika team up. YOUNG KHALIDA escapes from a drug syndicate and discovers an ancient blade in a long-abandoned temple. Using its power, she becomes the GODDESS OF THE CITY, controlling the citizens through dark magic and fear. But events are being manipulated against her from the shadows, targeting Khalida. A final action-packed confrontation will reawaken the ancient war and change the balance of power between HEAVEN AND HELL forever.

Invasive #1 – New Cullen Bunn series. Dr. Carrie Reynolds was a veteran trauma surgeon with a godlike mastery of muscle and bone. But outside the operating room, her rigidly ordered life spiraled into chaos when her daughter, Heather-a recovering plastic surgery addict-suddenly disappeared, only to mysteriously reemerge in a catatonic state, her vocal cords removed . . . the latest in a series of victims scarred by a battery of brazenly cruel medical procedures that have baffled police and left an alarming number of once-ordinary citizens maimed, mutilated, or dead on arrival. Deep beneath the streets of Carrie’s city, a new kind of underground hospital has just opened its doors . . . and, once inside, there are no rules, no oaths, and no taboos too deep to not to be broken. Together, a new class of surgeon has sworn to pierce the final threshold of accepted medical orthodoxy one incision at a time. The scalpel is their tool. The alleys are their operating theater. Murder is their medicine. And only Carrie can stop what they’re planning next

Beware the Planet of the Apes #1 Apes fans should be happy as Marvel returns to the classic movie universe. In a hostile world run by aggressive gorillas, scientists Cornelius and Zira are the only apes alive who see value in the mute, dumb human race – but even they know human capabilities have severe limits. So when their nephew Lucius goes missing, it is with great trepidation that they turn to a human ally, a young woman who will someday earn the moniker “Nova”… Steeped in a love for the classic tales, Marc Guggenheim and Álvaro López’s series will take the Planet of the Apes legacy to explosive new heights – and it all starts here!

Star Wars Revelations #1 FROM THE HIGH REPUBLIC TO THE ORIGINAL TRILOGY AND BEYOND! JABBA THE HUTT! DARTH VADER! MACE WINDU! KEEVE TRENNIS, THRAWN AND MORE! Introducing new characters, new twists and new turns across all of Marvel’s STAR WARS line! This star-studded issue puts the pieces on the board for what’s to come in a galaxy far, far away!

Star Wars Visions Takashi Okazaki #1 – Return to the samurai Jedi story

Timeless #1 – BEHOLD THE FUTURE OF THE MARVEL UNIVERSE – FEATURING THE DEBUT OF TWO NEW MARVEL ICONS! In a devastating future born from the choices of today, all of time and space is threatened by the ascension of an ancient evil. The MOON KNIGHT UNENDING has risen – a nightmare born of StarkTech, the Eternal Machine and the God of the Moon – and now all of Earth bows before his overwhelming power! But one man stands against Khonshu’s coming tide of chaos: POWER MAN, the Marvel Universe’s final living super hero.

Skeeters #1 – Small town hijinks ensue as extraterrestrial mosquitos descend on a sleepy beach town. When giant mosquito-like alien creatures invade a rural seaside community, a frustrated sheriff and two oddball exterminators end up being the town’s only hope for survival. A comedic and gruesome story for fans of Slither, Arachnophobia, and other classic creature-features!

Notable Reprints
Giant-Size Super-Stars #1 Facsimile Edition – The Thing and the Hulk have one of the most powerhouse rivalries in the entire Marvel Universe – and in 1974, it spilled out of the pages of both of their own books into a double-length slobberknocker!

For the Cover

Spider-Woman #2 (David Nakayama Ski Chalet Variant) Not much to say on this one. Nakayama provides a good cover.
