RUNNERS-UP

11 Geiger #1 – Gary Frank – Regular
Weekly Units Sold 17
Last week, Ghost Machine launched new titles that take place in the Geiger universe: GEIGER, REDCOAT, and ROOK: EXODUS. This resurgence has led many back to the original books, seeking to pick up the significant keys that are associated with the revisited characters. For those that follow GEIGER news closely, Paramount Studios was in the process of creating a TV adaptation of the series in 2022. However, news of that production has been largely absent. The release of these new series has been the most we have gotten from the IP, but it was enough! Fans of the universe have taken to the aftermarket to show the community just how much GEIGER is loved! We tracked 17 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 19%, with a high sale of $60 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a raw NM FMV of $14.

Dave Stevens covers have been heating up recently! Iconic covers like BAD PLANET #6 and PLANET COMICS #1 have seen a sudden spike of interest in the aftermarket. Every X-Men is getting a chance to shine in the new Disney+ series. Jubilee has also proven herself to be a cornerstone of this new iteration of the X-Men team, even earning her own solo story in the latest episode. It makes perfect sense that her first appearance is trending! We tracked 27 copies sold at a 7-day trend of 8%, with a high sale of $32 for a raw VF copy and a current raw NM FMV of $35.

Gambit is one of the X-Men’s most popular characters. Additionally, he has been the most anticipated character to hit the silver screen. Fans were excited to hear about his appearance in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, only to be disappointed by a drab cameo appearance. Fans got excited once more when the rumor of Channing Tatum bringing Gambit to the big screen in his own movie, only for that dream to fizzle away. Fans’ dreams have been reignited once more as rumors of the character appearing in Deadpool & Wolverine are running rampant. Gambit’s appearance in the new animated show has been well received. Recently, we tracked 16 copies sold at a 7-day trend of 9%, with a high sale of $685 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw NM FMV of $138.

16 Batman: The Killing Joke
Weekly Units Sold 10
THE KILLING JOKE is often heralded as one of the best Batman stories in comics. It can also be argued that this is the best Joker story in Batman mythos. Alan Moore took the level to another level by exploring a much darker and twisted storyline. Christopher Nolan was even quoted saying that THE KILLING JOKE was the influence for the film’s version of the Joker in The Dark Knight. Whatever your opinion may be, this book has suddenly been taking off in popularity once more. Even more mind-blowing is a perfect CGC 10.0 copy recently sold at Heritage Auctions for a monumental $28,800! We tracked ten copies sold at a 7-day trend of 13% with a current raw NM FMV of $82.

17 Wolverine #8

Prior to Deadpool & Wolverine, this book was a highly coveted cover. It features fantastic John Buscema artwork featuring Joe Fixit and Patch (Hulk and Wolverine’s alternate personas, respectively). However, this book is seeing new life after the debut of the Deadpool & Wolverine trailer, which had fans speculating that Patch would make his first appearance in the MCU. Additionally, rumors have begun floating around that Henry Cavill was brought on to play a version of Wolverine. Could this be Patch? Who knows, but we’re hyped! The cat’s out of the bag! When Marvel announced the Fantastic Four film, the rumor was that Galactus would be the film’s main villain. The recent casting of Julia Garner as the Silver Surfer is as good as a confirmation that Galactus will likely appear in the film. Additionally, fans did not take this casting choice lightly. There has been a mixed reception on this decision. There are current rumors/theories that the Fantastic Four movie will take place in an alternate dimension, bringing the first family to the main timeline by the film’s end. If this is true, Marvel may reserve Norrin Radd for another encounter in the main timeline. Until more is revealed, fans are still preparing for a Silver Surfer to enter the MCU! We tracked X copies sold at a 7-day trend of X% with a high sale of $20,400 for a CG 9.6 and a current raw FINE FMV $726.
