RUNNERS UP

11: Uncle Scrooge and the Infinity Dime #1 – J. Scott Campbell (1:50) | Marvel | June 2024
While prices have not been skyrocketing for this book, aftermarket movement has more than made up for it. This 1:50 from J. Scott Campbell was an instant snag for those who could get it. Luckily, the odds were MORE in their favor, with this book being the first Marvel-style Disney adventure and all. It was on collectors’ radar weeks ago, with LCS stocking up, but many still had to go the aftermarket route to secure a copy! We tracked 47 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 17%, with a high sale of $95 for an NM copy and a current NM raw FMV at $63.

12: Blood Hunt: Red Band Edition #1 – Leinil Francis Yu – Crime SuspenStories #22 Homage (1:25) | Marvel | May 2024
The surge in popularity of Golden Age horror over the past few years prepped modern audiences for an awesome homage. This Crime SuspenStories homage piqued fans’ interest, and the combination of that and some heavy gore in Marvel comics got the fan’s blood pumping. It’s been hot on the aftermarket since it was released, and the first wave of collectors missed out. It’s just been steadily rising since! We tracked 11 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 12%, with a high sale of $340 for a CGC 9.8 and a current NM raw FMV at $137

13: The New Mutants Vol.1 #98 – Rob Liefeld – Newsstand | Marvel | February 1991
Deadpool and Wolverine is a month away, and time is running out for collectors to secure a copy of Deadpool’s first appearance before it drops for those who need it. The regular edition has been seeing heavier aftermarket movement, mostly due to the variance in cost between that version and this newsstand version. That gap has slimmed considerably as of late. However, newsstand copies are still the “pinnacle” version to secure for some collectors and secure it they have. We tracked 11 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 9%, with a high sale of $375 for a CGC 9.8 and a current NM raw FMV at $409.

14: Daredevil Vol.1 #184 | Marvel | July 1982
While the community has their sights set on Deadpool and Wolverine, they are quietly still excited for the return of Charlie Cox and Daredevil in Daredevil: Born Again. Recently, set photos leaked confirming that Jon Bernthal will be returning as Punisher, and if the set photos are any indication, we may be getting a team-up. That, along with the recent confirmation that the Punisher will return. Of course, that sent collectors on the hunt for their first team-up in comics, and with the attention shifted to another IP, many were able to snag a copy for a better price. We tracked ten copies sold at a 7-day growth trend of 55%, with a high sale of $75 for a CGC 9.6 and a current VF raw FMV at $10.

15: Toxic Avenger Vol.1 #1 | Marvel | April 1991
The announcement that the geek community would receive a new Toxic Avengers film had fans pumped! The cast was stacked, and a character fans wanted more of and a grittier tone, which some fans needed at the time. It hit the film festival circuit in late 2023, and from what little information has come out, it was pretty good. However, no wider release has been set. That’s let rumors grow in the absence of confirmation, with it being circulated that we could get a wide release later this year. Also, with the remake of the Toxic Crusaders game featuring the Toxic Avenger set to release this year, fans are hopeful the film will be released to pair with the game. We tracked ten copies sold at a 7-day growth trend of 50%, with a high sale of $20 for a VF and a current NM raw FMV at $14.

16: Marvel Comics Presents Vol.1 #72 | Marvel | March 1991
We all know the Weapon X program has led to numerous storylines over the years and expanded on the past of Wolverine. Considering Deadpool was also a member of the program, as well as Omega Red (hello X-Men’ 97), there has been a heavy amount of focus put on members lately. With the film set to release later this year and several Marvel titles coming out pairing the two together, there was bound to be more attention paid to the Weapon X program. And don’t forget, ole Weapon VIII (8) saw a ton of hype earlier this year as well. Naturally, fans visited the start of the iconic storyline that has been giving ever since. We tracked 21 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 49%, with a high sale of $26 for a VF copy and a current NM raw FMV at $22.

17: Toxic Crusaders Vol.1 #1 | Marvel | May 1992
The Toxic Avenger was a big deal back in the day, and it ended up spawning quite an IP. An offshoot inspired by the films was the Toxic Crusaders. Comprised of the Toxic Avenger, NOZone, Major Disaster, Headbanger, and Junkyard, the team would eventually get their TV series AND a video game. With a new Toxic Crusaders game set to hit this year, fans have opted to revisit the first team appearance and secure a copy before those out of the know catch on. We tracked 12 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 28%, with a high sale of $15 for an FN copy and a current FN raw FMV of $14.

18: Doom #1 – George Perez | Marvel | May 2024
While this version has flown under the radar, it’s become an excellent option for collectors looking to secure a copy for a lesser price. It was the only version not to feature Dr. Doom on the cover, but who better to replace him than Galactus? The passing of George Perez in 2022 put a spotlight on his name, so whenever we get a cover with his name attached, collectors typically take another look. We tracked 17 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 43%, with a high sale of $23 for an NM copy and a current NM raw FMV at $14.

19: Daredevil Vol.1 #183 – Direct | Marvel | June 1982
When it was first announced the community would be receiving another Daredevil series featuring Big Red and the Punisher, this book was on fire. It’s their first battle AND an iconic cover. It’s fallen back to earth the past few years, but with new set photos making the rounds, it’s not surprising to see the hype for the book being born again. We tracked 11 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 29%, with a high sale of $26 for an FN copy and a current VF raw FMV of $14.

20: Amazing Spider-Man #257 – Tony Daniel – 2024 Facsimile (1:25) | Marvel | June 2024
It’s odd to release a facsimile, considering it’s reprinting the first appearance of the third Hobgoblin (Ned Leeds). But, just a few years ago, this book was hot, and fans theorized we could see MCU Ned take on the moniker. However, that didn’t happen, but it’s still an awesome book with a top-tier cover. The 2024 re-imagined version slaps like the original! We tracked 11 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 25%, with a high sale of $75 for an NM copy and a current NM raw FMV at $58.
