MondoCon is coming up here in Central Texas, if you’re going, holler in the comments section, I should be there either Saturday or Sunday. Jock and Francavilla are both going to be there, amongst some other comic creators and artists, movies, music, toys and food. So it’s more than just comics, I’m looking forward to the event and hopefully sharing stuff with the masses.
Besides Con news, it’s new comic book day, the reason you are likely reading this, if you are reading it. Are there people reading these articles? Get noisy people, post comments, tell me I’m wrong and I suck, something! 🙂
Alright then. Let’s get on with the picks.
DC/Vertigo Pick
Cave Carson Has A Cybernetic Eye #1 (DC) – Just an odd title to hopefully go with an odd reading. This is the only DC title I’m looking forward to that catches my attention. Hit your local comic shop up for the cassette that comes out for the book too. That thing is going for big money and is one per store.
Marvel Pick
Amazing Spider-Man #20 (Marvel) – I’m going out on a limb here but the description claims someone in Spider-Man’s orbit dies, so who’s it gonna be? Maybe they’re teasing us and it will be a major player but in most cases, when a death is announced ahead of time, it’s usually someone we don’t care about or enjoy watching them die. I have seen no spoilers and wrote this based on just the description. So we’ll have to wait and find out.
Honorable mention
Deadpool Too Soon #1 I have to give a shout out to Larry from Larry’s Comics on this one. It goes against my better judgement to say it but it is the first appearance of Squirrel-Pool (Squirrel Girl/Deadpool crossover). First Gwen-pool, then Duck-pool, and now Squirrel-pool, people do like Deadpool derivatives, so this is worth getting a copy. You never know.
Indie Pick and Spec of the Week
Spawn Kills Everyone (Image) 3rd Printing – Don’t be surprised to see this go to a 4th or 5th print. These are not heavily ordered but with enough demand are creating more prints. 3rd print, new cover. Grab’em if you find’em. I don’t think these are quick flips but this is a one shot people will continue to seek out in the coming weeks, months and years.
Not as big a week as some of the past few weeks, so we got that going for us, just less candy for us this week.

You’re wrong and you suck.
Yes, someone read my article. There is hope.. for me.. I think..
It’s a rather uninspiring week. From a spec perspective, I see nothing. There are quite a few readers on my list (Batman, ASM, Nightwing) but nothing I’m looking to flip.
I feel the same. Hence my picks….
I agree with your pick for Deadpool Too Soon #1. With all these new “Deadpool-esque” characters popping up there’s bound to be one that sticks. And this COULD (emphasis on could) be the one to hold, but probably not. Anyways, great picks.
Appreciated, unlike that Elvi guy.. we need to block him. We can’t have Gwenpool lovers hating on the chicken! 🙂
… says the guy with a small shrine dedicated to Gwenpool…
Ssshhhhh… No one is suppose to know about the shrine.
this new dead squeralle can get traction. like cos play traction. a.s.m. #20. batman #9 c.w.2 kingpin a great read week but craptulcatar spec week. blind adam out
Not really crazy about Squirrel-Pool but gonna get a couple copies to spec on I guess… Amaze Spidey looks like could be a good pick. Has anyone read infamous iron man#1 yet to see what Bendis is hyping up? Interested to see if this might be an issue to get.
I’m not crazy about Squirrel Poo either.. but if it sells on the secondary market, you better bet I’ll buy to flip to those willing to throw their money in my direction. 🙂
Very true, that’s why I will buy this for flip only!
Spawn kills everyone is a great book. It had me laughing like crazy. Wife just looked at me like if I was crazy lol. So it’s a definite keeper.
