Hey all you CHUaholics.. Look, I’m cool like Alana and Drunkwooky now with my crafty opening response. I bet they’ve already used that one too, which makes me uncool.
Anyways, this week is the best week ever, until the following week and then the week after that. As long as new comics keep coming out, life just keeps getting better, right? Right!
So lets get on with the picks.
DC/Vertigo Pick
Aquaman #28 (DC) Middleton Cover – I’m not even an Aquaman reader but I’ve even picking up these great covers. Sold out online for the most part. Should still be easy to get at your local shop, hopefully.
The other mention goes to Batman The Red Death #1, Metals tie in book. I’ve been enjoying Metals, so this is a likely pickup.
Marvel Pick
Star Wars Annual #3 – I love Star Wars. I also think these new stories could introduce new characters we eventually see in the movies, which leads to first appearances and you know what that means, profit goodiness. Han and Leia are looking for a new Rebel base location with some killers following, who want Han dead. Might not be a spec hit but it’s definitely a pick up to read pick.
Small Publisher Pick
Shirtless Bear Fighter #4 Paolo Rivera Variant – Just a great cover. If you missed it in Anthony’s picks spec video, this is the Image title you grab if you see it. Even if you don’t read this series, you grab this cover because it’s just pure awesomeness.
Also, noteworthy is Jeff Lemire’s Black Hammer cover B, Superman Death Homage variant. Such a great cover as well and it’s one of the best reads currently out there.
Another one is Over the Garden Wall 2017 Special. It’s got a $7.99 price tag. I’m betting most shops either under ordered or didn’t order. So grab the virgin variant if you see it, this will be a ghost for the most part and this series has it’s fans, so could be a easy flip if you intend to dump it fast.
Indie Pick
Dark Ark #1 (Aftershock) – Bunn’s new bible twisted story. I’m not big on old bible ripoffs but this is Bunn writing so it’s gonna be either great or might even be a dud. But it’s definitely on the radar to check out. Already selling out online as well.
Big Trouble Little China Old Man Jack #1 (BOOM!) – It’s John Carpenter writing a new BTLC book again. The last series was awesome until he handed off writing duties to another writer. Then it just started sucking. So I’m anticipating good things from this new series, Jack, in the future, older with John Carpenters witty humor writing.
Now, we talk about the books to avoid.
This week it’s MillarWorld Annual 2017. It’s a bunch of Millar characters written by other people, who have never really written comic stories. I hate saying this as I love new talent in the comic industry but save your money. This is just a cash grab from Millar and Image. You’ll find it in the 50 cent bin at some point in the near future. Don’t waste your money, just wait if you really want to check out some Millar characters written by people who aren’t Millar.
That’s it, hate’em, love’m.. (I’m sure Blind Adam hates me, ripping on his favorite writer Millar.. ) but either way, I’m sleeping good tonight.

What, no love for Wonder Woman meets Conan?
Lol!
Meh.. crossovers are fun but one hardly sees these heat up.
Batman/Elmer Fudd. Nuff said!! Sorry I always wanted to do that
True, that was one of those rare crossovers that heated up out of nowhere. I think it was more hype than anything, most shops under ordered. Now my shops are trying to rid themselves of the 2nd prints with zero movement.
Looks like recent sales of Batman Fudd going for around $5.99, one of those was both 1st and 2nd print. Anyone who bought these at the inflated prices should have waited.. what’s that old saying.. good things come to those that wait? 🙂
I like the Over the Garden Wall pick. Really enjoyed watching the show with the kids but wish the price tag was a little lower. Really love the Shirtless Bear Fighter pick, there is something nostalgic about it which makes for a great add to any collection.
