Upcoming Image titles Spec

As the tail end of a plethora of new releases approaches it is not uncommon for retailers to begin to place smaller orders on potentially hot books. Two Image books releasing soon have both the potential to heat up in addition to being under ordered. It has been uncommon to see TFAW or similar sites to be running low before release dates on Image titles. This is the case for both of the following.
The first which releases tomorrow is Goners #1 by artist Jorge Corona and writer Jacob Semahn. (Only about 32 left on TFAW.) This will be available in the standard cover as well as the Phantom variant.
‘WE ALL FALL DOWN,’ Part One
From the colonization of Roanoke to the Cold War, the world famous Latimer Family has been humanity’s lone defense against paranormal horrors for centuries… until tonight. A deadly assault on the lineage forces an unprepared brother and sister to solve their parents’ murder while trying to escape the grim landscape of horrors that stalk the children themselves.
The second of the two is one I have been looking forward to for quite some time and has the potential to heat up quickly as well as being very suited for a media deal IMO. This is Rasputin by the fan favorite artist Riley Rossmo and Ivan Plascencia, written by Alex Grecian. This will be available in three covers that I am aware of. Cover A (85 copies left on TFAW for preorder) by Riley Rossmo, cover B (30 copies left for pre-order) by Ryan Stegman, and a Ra Ra variant. (Unknown cover artist as well as where to purchase).
DRACULA AT DOWNTON ABBEY! In one night Rasputin was poisoned, beaten, stabbed, shot in the head, drowned, then tied up and thrown in a frozen river. It was really bad timing. His beard was just coming in nicely.
New York Times bestselling author ALEX GRECIAN and fan favorite artist RILEY ROSSMO reunite for the first time since their critically acclaimed series PROOF!
Of course speculation is what it is, with print run a factor, how much the general public latches onto the story, and of course a media announcement equals a boom in value. A gamble of sorts. Of the two, I expect a great read from Rasputin as well as top notch art. Goners has a story that interests me yet have not had a chance to see how well it’s executed.

  1. Goners is going right to the dollar bins. Should win the award for the crappiest Image art of the year for sure. Rasputin looks great

      1. That’s too bad. I know Image is looking at some not so typical series. Even have plans to get GN’s in the children’s section soon beginning with Oddly Normal.

  2. I agree it is not the typical Image art we are used to but the story may be exceptional. I appreciate the off the beaten path art personally and won’t discount anything until Ive given it a read. Rasputin looks and appears to have a story that is very engaging. The more Riley Rossmo the better in my opinion. Love his style. Neither one may qualify as flip titles at all but they deserve some coverage.
