Twentieth Century Fox has had a busy day. With all the TV deals they signed, they also signed an important part of the upcoming X-Men Apocalypse movie.
The titular character Apocalypse has been cast. Oscar Isaac will be playing the role.
From Deadline:
Twentieth Century Fox has closed a deal for Oscar Isaac to star as Apocalypse in X-Men: Apocalypse. Isaac, stellar in Inside Llewyn Davis, will next be seen opposite Jessica Chastain in A Most Violent Year. In X-Men, he plays the most powerful mutant ever and the most menacing foe the X-Men have ever faced. Tracks back to ancient times. The main villain of the film. Considers himself a god. From the look of the comic character, Isaac’s going to have to do some benching.
Expect the first cameo in X-Factor #5 and the full first appearance in X-Factor #6 to continue to rise in price. Grab them now if you haven’t already. Also, keep an eye out for the Apocalypse appearance in Marvel Graphic Novel #17 which predates the X-Factor books.
I find it hard to accept the Marvel Graphic Novel, Revenge of the Living Monolith, to be considered the first appearance of Apocalypse. He isn’t actually seen in the book, nor is there any clue of Apocalypse’s presence, it was retroactively added later on that he had manipulated the events of the issue. They had also established Apocalypse was involved with the Moses Magnum story from Uncanny X-men#119. I know everyone is jumping on this bandwagon, but I wonder at what point will everyone’s thinking suddenly shift back?
Rise of Apocalpse mini tells the origin of En Sabah Nur. The Age of Apocalypse omnibus also goes for good money if you can find them.
I have Rise of Apocalyse somewhere need to dig them out. Got them because Adam Polina did the art and always have been a fan of his. Got them when they came out so they are in storage somewhere.
There are shadows and cameos but at the end of the dayX-Factor 6 is his 1st Full appearance and the comic to watch. The bar code version is still under valued , plus he may return for the X-Force movie if they make it.
