Marvel Premiere 47 and 48 Bronze Age heating up

With the big news involving the Ant-Man movie casting coming out, that Scott Lang will be in the movie, prices quickly shot up on Lang’s first appearances as Ant-Man. The first appearance, Marvel Premiere #47 has been going for as high as $60 on eBay in vf+ to nm.
Deals can still be had on these as there are copies of Marvel Premiere #47 starting as low as $2.25. Copies of his second appearance as Ant-Man, Marvel Premiere #48, start in the $3 and up range.
It makes sense that Scott Lang would be chosen to be Ant-Man, even though Hank Pym is more readily associated with the character, as Hank could be pulled into the Avengers series. Chatter in the comments section also mention Cassie Lang, Stature from Young Avengers and Scott Lang’s daughter possibly appearing. Her first appearance as Stature is Young Avengers #6 which can be had for as low as $1.

  1. Hey Tony –
If I happen to have a copy to sell of an issue you are discussing for speculation, is it appropriate to let you and your readers know that?

  2. @Rich,
Nice stuff you have here, but your MP 47 reprint is the Toy Variant, and would be much more desirable if it was still factory-sealed like this Variant came.
I have a sealed MP 47 Variant in NM condition, but I may be looking for another #48 if the Heat continues for these Ant-Man books. We’ll see.

  3. Rich, Sorry to relay info that doesn’t help you with your spek action, but at least now you know about the #48 Toy Variant.
But looking at the following EBAY auction, your #48 reprint can still fetch you some nice dosh on the secondary market when the movie drops!

Either way, DANG NICE FIND FOR HOT BOOKS! Did you know about the Ant-Man movie before you found your MP #47 & 48? Or did you just SPEK on the books?

    1. Thanks man. There were rumors about the flick when I came across them, but nothing solid. Definitely no casting yet. How about you – when did you score yours?

  4. Rich, ALL FROM THIS SITE! Comic Flipper, Dakoit, and Hoknes had the information right here on this site before anyone else. I have been with COMICS HEATING UP since March of last year, and I’ve learned that this site is like the old E.F. Hutton commercials…WHEN COMICS HEATING UP SPEAKS…I GO OUT AND GRAB THOSE BOOKS AS SOON AS I READ THE POST. I’ve stopped reading a few times, and gone directly to find the book of topic.
I HAVE NOTHING BUT ABSOLUTE PRAISE FOR COMIC FLIPPER AND ALL OF THE CONTRIBUTORS ON THIS SITE!
So, as soon as they broke the Ant-Man movie news, and highlighted the books to target, GIVING THEIR REASONS AND FINDINGS…man, I was straight onto the internet to get these books as cheaply as possible…and I’m happy with my findings.
They have even proved me wrong…AND I SPEK PRETTY HARD! I was a spek’er before I joined CHU, as a matter of fact I ran across this site as I was looking for spek information myself. I spek’d on Hoakes Hunters, but I talked myself out of it. I spek’d on the Sixth Gun, but I talked myself out of it. I also speck’d on Adventure Time, yes, you got it, I TALKED MYSELF OUT OF IT! I could have had multiple #1’s of all of those books for cover back then, but I didn’t trust myself. But with CHU, I have others who believe the same stuff as I do, so I trust these guys EXPLICITLY!
No questions from me. When they tip, I go out and get as many copies of whatever they are spek’n on…QUICKLY!!!!!
    Anyway, that’s my story!
Keep up the search, and STAY CLOSE TO CHU…THEY WON’T STEER YOU WRONG!
