Amazing Spider-man #1 sold out

By Terry Hoknes at www.hoknescomics.com
The print run may have been 700,000 copies but Diamond is already sold out on the day of release.

Just a week ago they had over 12,000 copies left yesterday it was down to 1800 copies and today retailers cleaned Diamond out.
So believe it or not there will likely be a 2nd printing.
This historic comic is overly common with some retailers (such as myself) ordering more than I needed
to qualify for variants but at this point with all 43 variant covers also sold out
this comic should keep some hype up for some time !
I still have copies of 10 of the different variant covers available but sales are steady.

      1. Well in that case it really worries me this many are busted up. I must now keep my faith in TFAW and that they have never done me dirty.
I rarely support the idea of CGC but in the case of finding a clean book that just might be the route to go.

  1. On a serious note though, the only ASM #1 I saw without any scuffed or banged up corners (besides the more expensive variants) was the Blank Variant since it has the thicker cover that wraps around.

    1. Let me know how your shipment from TFAW looks when you get them. I’m more worried now my shipment wont ship out till the 14th.

      1. So far TFAW has shipped my Martin Variant, not my Opena which I find strange. Unless they got them in bad shape and returned them or something, usually they won’t split up an order like that.
I’m sure if they come damaged I’ll be ranting here about it. 😉

  2. No doubt. I’ve told people before you can’t get a Marvel comic off the shelf and get a 9.8 grade on it.

  3. DIamond still has the regular cover and the connecting cover for Amazing Spider-Man #1 in stock. Just checked

    1. They must have updated it today. Same thing happened with some DC books if I remember, possibly the Joker’s Daughter book. They had less than 500 left and then shot it back up to a few thousand.

  4. Just picked up the mhan variant from my LCS and the only thing I saw wrong was a very very small tear along the spine on the lower left corner, but they were all like that.

    1. that is printing damage. happens a lot with marvel. since it is print damage i do not think it effects a score as much as something like a spine crease. from what i read. cgc and other graders try to determine if it is from printing damage, and if so they dont mark the score on something small like dog ear. A big tear i would imagine gets you a downgrade thou.

      1. Yeah, it’s not that big. Maybe an 1/8 of an inch or less? It’s basically a bindery tear. I’m not sure but I think Overstreet grading standards lets you get away with 1 printing defect and still have a high grade like a 9.8

      2. Yes and that type of error is no mistake printing defect. Unlike a spine crease hard to say when it happened. Wasn’t this a problem on most of the ASM 700 also.

      3. I’m not sure but I think my copy does have a small tear on the corner too. They’re both oversize books so maybe that has something to do with it. Weird.

  5. Vault Collectibles ruins it for the majority of sellers by having Stan sign a ton of books and getting a special CGC day of release label. Now the rest that were the best of the best are second best in the CGC world. Thanks Vault for making the flood of variants and your doings crumble the variant wall for another decade or so. I’m staying true to the likes of Image and smaller companies, great reads, amazing art, and no big business shakedowns like this week! Viva La SAGA and Manifest!

  6. I agree, yet I’m just going to go with the argument of the corner is supposed to be torn on all the books to CGC. Then cry a little.

    1. Only if you get one in NM or better probably.. rumors are Gamestop doesn’t treat or secure these well when packaging for shipment.

  7. the minimates variant is just as rare as the gamestop exclusive “6000 each “!hold on to your money boys and girls and pick up the minimate variant for now and the gamestop exclusive later!

  8. 1st print of Spider-man #1 had sold out and then Diamond had surprisingly 2,000 copies in stock – but they are now long gone and the 2nd print is on the way.
