Big Trouble in Little China Variant

Big Trouble in Little China looks to be as fun and as strange as the movie. In case you have never seen it, try to find a copy and watch it, you would appreciate it. Eric Powell is bringing the movie to comics from Boom June 4th.

There are 14 covers for the book, which tends to make one roll their eyes, but there are a couple of good covers for a good cause. Big Trouble in Little China TFAW Variant sells for $5 preorder, but half of the proceeds go to support The Comic Book Legal Defense Fund. DCBS has a variant as well for $5 which completes the image (they are connecting).

  1. I actually just pre-ordered the 1 in 100 variant with a goal of getting it signed by John Carpenter at the convention this summer. Not a spec thing, just a big fan of the movie and John Carpenter. Paid 50 for it, so I’d like to see prices be even higher once the book comes out.

    1. Where did you preorder it so cheap. All the preorder i saw were around 80$
      Shoot I paid 40$ for the 1:50
      Nice pick up.

      1. Graham crackers comics. They’re a local Chicagoland chain but they do have a Web site and they ship. The 1 in 50 is about 30 on their site if I remember correctly. I actually debated waiting till the comic hit ebay to see the prices, but now I’m glad I just went for it. Can’t imagine too many shops ordering over a hundred copies and getting the 1:100

    1. i couldn’t agree more…there are a lot of BTILC fans, especial the 30 something crowd that were kids when the movie came out!im sure this will be a sell out pretty fast

      1. a 20,000 print run should sell out easily, but anything below that and this book could get hot really fast…….wonder what the print run is?

      2. “Word is that post-FOC orders are over 23,000 copies making it one of Boom’s bigger launches of the year.” from bleeding cool
While not small, its not huge either. especially if the main cover is split into A and B. 50:50 or even 10:1 like ‘The Woods’. Also so many variants. While not everyone is going after all the covers, this does bring the ‘main’ cover down in count.
Depending on how they do the A/B split if at all, could be at around 10k-15k for the amount of main covers printed. Leaving not many copies for all the major cities around the USA let alone north america/globe
        Huge Buzz

  2. Just remember what ol’ Jack Burton does when the earth quakes, the poison arrows fall from the sky, and the pillars of Heaven shake. Yeah, Jack Burton just looks that big old storm right in the eye and says, ‘Give me your best shot. I can take it.

  3. I loved the movie, I’ll buy the comic but I’m not planning to flip any, too much press tells me the print run is going to be big and it’s going to be easy to get. Might be some profit at first but it’ll sizzle off quickly.

    1. Yeah i’m a realist and just joking around when I say this is the biggest event in history. I realize it wont be crazy out of the gate. But the wild card is the fan base and how many are also into comics.
I had no idea the fan base was still so strong until the news of this comic came out and the hype started.

      1. It’s likely just us old farts that grew up in the 80s that are going nuts for this comic.. 😉

      2. Indeed. Nostalgia mode in full effect.
Next they will do a Lost Boys comic and bring back Fraggle rock.

      3. You can actually find Fraggle Rock on Netflix I think.. I tried getting my kids into it, they were like.. meh!

  4. Hey Tony, I just noticed you gave me a nod on this cover. Shows how awesome you are. Thank you for your great site that is one of the most updated around!!
