  1. This past month i started to trim the fat on my monthly pickups. Including in the cut out books recently were Hinterkind, Madame Frankenstein, God Is Dead, and several more. One that I dropped recently that will cause some to gasp, I stopped picking up Peter Panzerfaust with issue 20. Have been reading since day one and the past 3 issues have not kept me hooked. This has been on the bottom of my reading pile for a while. Also dropped Morning Glories as well.

    1. I went on the comic diet lately as well. I’m holding on to Peter Panzerfaust though.
God is Dead I dropped around issue 5 or 6. After I learned Hickman started it only to hand it over by issue 8, that was enough for me and it just wasn’t doing it for me up until I dropped it. It had potential but I lost interest fast around issue 4 or so.

  2. I was thinking about dropping Low after reading #1 tonight, but after #2 I decided to get #3 tomorrow… we’ll see after that. I’m gonna get Outcast again too, but it’s been a little boring so far. Not getting anymore 68 Homefront or Fade Out.

    1. Fade Out was so good though, but I guess you really have to dig Brubaker’s style, which I do. I love the mystery crime stuff, I’m hooked already, especially since Fatale ended which filled that hole each month.
Outcast is slowly building, honestly I’d say hold out for a few more issues til the end of the first arc (either issue 5 or 6), something big will happen for sure. If it doesn’t wow me, I might be dropping it myself.
Low #2 is what kept it on my pull list as well.

      1. yeah, I just didn’t dig the crime story of Fade Out and the setting kinda turned me off. I’ll stick with Outcast a little longer.

        1. Yeah, I think it’s his style that really attracts me. Lots of 1st person narrative, it’s like your diving right into the main characters head, reading what they’re thinking. It’s not for everyone but for crime junkies, Brubaker nails it for me most of the time.

    1. Saga is a must for sure. The thing I like about BKV is, when he creates something, he seems to stay focused on that one story/project until he’s done (doesn’t seem to be distracted by a dozen projects that deteriorate his work overall). To me, this is what makes his work that good and it never seems to lose readers but only gain as time goes on.

      1. Yeah, there’s only a few writers to me who can pull off multiple titles. Remender, Hickman and Snyder are doing pretty good at it. Jason Aaron seems to keep his stuff interesting with the amount he’s got on his plate.

  3. I dropped Sex Criminals and The Bunker. I like both comics, but the story in Sex Criminals, while full of some interesting concepts, just doesn’t appeal to me. I stuck through issue 7 or 8. The Bunker is a great story and I see potential for TV or Moives. It’s well plotted and I think the story is really a good one, but as far a the visuals, they fall flat. I feel like there are a lot of pages/panels where the art can’t quite keep up with the story — it just looks muddy and rushed and I find myself getting a little confused about exactly what character is doing what.
Still picking up Afterlife with Archie, Spread, Wool, The Walking Dead and my favorite comic right at the moment is Ghosted. The last issue really pulled some threads together and I think it’s heading into a really great story arc at the moment.

      1. Ghosted is awesome. Five Ghosts needs to hurry up on back on a monthly basis again as well, Frank better not let me down.

  4. I’ve dropped East of West, Pretty Deadly. Not my cup of tea. I tried Futures End but realized I can’t stand super heroes anymore, save for Spider-Man. Outcast is slow, but I’ll probably whirl that out for 10 issues or so. I have so much to read it is hard to pick any new titles. With school, family, organized sports and internships I am a few months behind!

    1. I thought Pretty Deadly ended, haven’t seen an issue in some time. I probably won’t be picking it up either on any future releases. The art was awesome the last issue fell flat for me on ending the arc apparently.

        1. I’ll probably pass. I actually ran across a few of these issues in the 50 cent bin at one shop this morning. Most were in bad shape though since they don’t put backer boards on the ones they throw in the discount bin. On a good day before the masses shovel them around, you can find some decent deals on stuff you wanted to pick up but didn’t want to spend $4 on or what not.

      1. didnt really move me the last couple issues ..Im loving Nailbitter and Southern Bastards more ..if something picks up i can always go back and scoop up back issues

        1. Nailbiter is on my pull for sure. Southern Bastards is just awesome. Leaves me wanting more at the end of each issue.

    1. Disagree. Think it’s a great series. Great art as well. I met Matthew Roberts at Heroes Con, and he is one of the nicest people I’ve met. Also drew me a sick Minotaur on my Long Beach Variant that came back a 9.8.

  5. Here I am with your early store comic report
9:00 am Here in the east coast.been at it since stores opened at 8…Wool 3 very scant in 3 stores the major store only had 5 the others only had 1 a piece… picked up a low print run book called gold diggers only one on shelf so what the hay… dash there were about 40 on shelf between 3 stores… Parallel man copies were in bad shape everywhere top portion bended bad on most books..again people starting to hate 3D COVERS it’s beginning to feel like work collection g these things one shopper told me. Town called dragon slim picking as well cover art looks sick. Future proof was one of the workers pick of the week as well and butterfly.. Roche limited tonssss left on shelves… saga was flying off the shelf as well as outcast and cowl…glad to see both books picking up steam..will be back with the afternoon report after 6pm when I hit the afternoon stores

      1. My comic shop report is:
No Wool’s at first one although I think I got them to attempt to carry them starting with #4. All out of the Town Called Dragon were out. Everything else was pretty typical or available.
Second shop had 4 Wool’s left. They had about 5 x Town Called Dragon (and all of them had some spine stress/creases as well, I picked the best one I could out of the bunch).
Tons of 3D covers, not even bothering. It’s almost to the point now the regular non-3D covers will end up being the valuable ones since those stacks are minuscule compared to the 3D covers.

  6. I dropped Peter Panzerfaust, Pretty Deadly. Just to keep myself in control, I really try to drop something if I pick up something else (subscription stuff – doesn’t apply to speculating stuff). Outcast… I tried two issues and decided that was enough for me. I wish Hawkeye was sticking around longer.

        1. Well, it’s not showing up on Midtown’s list for next week (they’re always reliable on a weekly basis) so it’s definitely not 10/1 from what I can tell.

                1. “Hello! This is indeed Tim from Enormous.
Want to be sure and set the record as straight as possible.
Issue #4 has had multiple dates attached to it and they keep changing…why? I have no idea. Honestly, the book is done, has been done, and was printed and has been at Diamond’s warehouse for some time. #5 is done as well. In fact, letters due tomorrow! And that will be a wrap.
So, when is #4 coming out? I’ve been trying to get a straight answer all day long from Diamond.
One thing is clear – your support and patience has been very appreciated!
I’ll be sure to update you all once I have a firm in-store date. They’ve already fooled me once. Shame on me.”

  7. My pickups (slow week):
    COWL 5
    Outcast 4 x 5 (1st app of major character)
    Low 3
    Roche Limit 1
    Letter 44 10
GHA 1 (store still had a couple)
Copperhead 1 (2 left on shelf)
Image is almost 90 percent of my budget now.
    Recent drops:
ASM – just in it for Silk
    Shutter – too confusing
Hulk & Savage Hulk – always one of my fav characters, but how many times can ya retell the same story?
And my guy says he has est delivery for Enormous as 10/8. Too bad they can’t get on a regular schedule… Afraid it will kill one of the best releases in a while.

      1. Doesn’t matter who’s fault it is, if the comic can’t get read it will most likely fail. Kinda like how people blame their waitress when the kitchen is slow. I’ve already heard a couple people comment they are going to or have given up on it. It’s a shame bc it’s some of the best art in a while. Just checked Midtown and they don’t have any for next week so hopefully it is the 8th.

        1. I understand what you are saying. it just is a shame that Diamond seems to be killing one of the best looking, well written, actually published on time (just not distributed that way) books on the market. Its as if they only care about pumping out more junk with Deadpool on the cover or 3d DC books. They all pay the same percentage to be distributed. I think that is where the problem lies.
Sure, 215 ink could self distribute Enormous, but the undertaking to do that would be incredibly hard.
Marvel failed at making an alternative distribution system. Diamond has a stranglehold on comics and could result in it being a death grip.

      2. Curses Diamond!
I hear ya man and I get where the problem lies… Just been Jonesing to read 4 since I knocked out the first 3. Then for the last couple wks been hearing how 4 is the game changer and sets the story in motion… Now I hearing I’m waiting at least 2 more wks… Just gonna have to email Tim and beg for my own preview! 😉

      1. I’ve heard and seen some of diamonds packing methods and I don’t understand why anyone would tolerate there horrible packing.

      2. For Diamond packaging and shipping practices, it’s because they ship the most economical way possible. To them they’re just periodicals, not precious collectibles. If they raised their standards and treated each comic as delicate as possible, it would only end up costing us more.
The other problem I see is it seems most shops get theirs shipped via UPS. UPS is horrible, they treat their packages horribly. I knew a guy long ago that worked there who packed the trucks for the drivers. He said if a package said FRAGILE on it and they didn’t buy insurance, they made sure to kick it around or throw the package around extra hard for fun.
I wouldn’t go laying all the blame on Diamond for damaged goods most likely.

  8. Dropped:
    -Action Comics
    -Drumhellar
    -Harley Quinn (was going nowhere)
-Hawkeye (I think lost their way)
    -Justice League (Blah)
    -Pretty Deadly
    -Sovereign
-Wicked + Divine (looks pretty, but not enough to make me spend $ every month)
    Added:
    -And then Emily was gone
    -Copperhead
    -Enormous
    -Outcast
    -Ragnarok

  9. I dropped Woods and Letter 44. the story for woods was just ok. And I just couldn’t take the art on Letter 44 anymore. I am on the fence with The Bunker for the same reasons, except that story is a little bit stronger. Was going to drop Southern Bastards, but now I need to see what happens to Earl…
In its place I will start reading Wytches and Sabrina next month.

      1. Same here. I actually dig the style of art in Letter 44. The Bunker art is rough at times and seems rushed but I’m still entertained each read so far.
