Gambit Movie in the works

Hope everyone had a good Halloween. I am finally rested from taking my kids trick-or-treating and dressing up as a spooky scarecrow and sitting in the graveyard scene in my front yard and scaring the older kids. But I digress, Marvel is back with more movie news. Deadline is reporting that Fox is set to start writing a Gambit movie.
From Deadline:

In a move that makes official that the X-Men character Gambit is getting his own spinoff movie with Channing Tatum as the card-savvy protagonist, Fox has set Robocop scribe Josh Zetumer to write the screenplay. The studio has officially attached Tatum as star, and to produce with his Free Association partner Reid Carolin, The Donners Company’s Lauren Shuler Donner, and Genre Films’ Simon Kinberg.

The screenplay will be based on a treatment penned by legendary Marvel Comics writer Chris Claremont, who with Jim Lee created the character for Marvel in 1990. Of course they are being tight lipped about the story.
Gambit debuted in Uncanny X-Men #266 which is still an affordable book. At least for now.

  1. His annual appearance could see a spike, but the low price buy is most likely his first series in 1993. A four part limited that discussed his past. That’s a set that can be found for under ten bucks. Thoughts?

    1. The annual came out at the same time but had the later published date. His first apperance was supposed to be the annual i believe. The four part mini isnt a bad idea. The story could be pulled from any of his past.

      1. I think the Annual is his first appearance by Release Date, but Uncanny 266 is his first appearance chronologically by the series/story events. And with his first mini-series, it means something to some people to see his name as the title of a book, but there is also a hard-to-find version of that 1st issue where the Entire Cover is shiny gold, not just the title lettering. I’ve never seen one in-person, only on eBay…
