Agent Poyo's Picks for Feb 10th, 2016

Flowers are overrated (and pricey) and will die within a week. Chocolate will give you diabetes.. so Poyo’s recommendation for this upcoming baby making weekend is comic books. Yeah you heard me, buy the love of your life a bunch of comic books. If they can’t appreciate that, well, then you keep them for yourself. So it’s an all round win-win for you.
So now, let’s get on with the picks shall we..
DC/Vertigo Pick:
Batman #49 (DC) – Bruce Wayne is back as Batman. So excited. Honestly, I was getting so tired of Gordon running around as Batman without a cape in a blimp. Plus, Batman doesn’t smoke, so very annoying. Gordon needs to stick to being Gordon.
Don’t forget to pick up the sweet Neal Adams variant as well, seems to be selling out online already.
Honorable mention goes to The Dark and Bloody (Vertigo) – Guns, moonshine and monsters? Uh, yeah..
Marvel Pick:
I know, everyone thinks Deadpool #7 is the pick but you know, sure, why not. It’s his 25 year anniversary. So buy the $9.99 comic that will likely be in the hundreds of thousands. Just don’t expect it to be valuable anytime soon. Honestly, I’d suggest you wait until Midtown has a 40% off sale, then pick this up as I’m sure there will still be plenty available, then you get it for $6 or so.
But my actual picks for Marvel are:
Wolverine #5 (Marvel) – The Cho variant. Already sold out at most online stores.
Ms. Marvel #4 (Marvel) – Another Cho variant. She has her fan base, expect these to get snatched up quickly, tucked away into personal collections and then hard to find.
Indie Pick of the Week:
Tinker #1 (Overground Comics) -“Amy Park is an Asian-American teenager obsessed with superheroes, but she is too young to officially register as one. That doesn’t stop Amy from using her talent to replicate any technology that she observes to build her own crime fighting arsenal, and in the process reveal a secret about Zero Technologies!”
That’s all I got this week. And if you really insist on getting your life partner some flowers, Poyo’s tips to saving money is, forgo the florist, go get your bouquet at the grocery store for $15 with a nice $5-$10 vase, they’ll never know the difference. Don’t waste hundreds of dollars on flowers just because a florist sold them.. seriously!

    1. Yeah, not a big spec week for sure. I still have about 20 comics I’m likely picking up (just ongoing series I read) but besides that.. not a very exciting week for specs..

  1. i agree. I always get the little lady flowers from the grocery store. it doesn’t make a difference to them. I only use a florist if im having something sent to someone out of state like my mom for mothers day or something like that.

    1. Or do what I do and skip the flowers all together. After you’re married, your wife doesn’t want you spending that kind of dough on flowers when you’re sharing a bank account. IF YOU’RE DATING BUY THE FLOWERS. SHE DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR BANK ACCOUNT AT THIS POINT.

      1. So where can I trade my wife in for one of these wives that care about bank accounts? Cause mine seems to not care so much about bank account balance..

        1. ha! Funny story…A year or so ago I decided to get my wife flowers out of the blue. SO I get a nice big bouquet and have it delivered. She’s thrilled and all is good until she saw the bank account and how much I spent. I was then notified to not buy her flowers again in the future lol.

          1. I work in downtown Annapolis Maryland. There is a guy who owns a flower shop where you can buy way over priced flowers or go to Church Circle where a guy sets up a stand and buy the same flowers from the same shop for a fraction of the price. I always go to his stand and not the shop. Women still like flowers.
