Comics Picks of the Week for Delivery 5/11/16

Each week hundreds of new comics hit the shelves each with potential. We pick the ones we think have the best shot at heating up. Here are our picks of the week for delivery 5/11/16

The Returning Favorites
The Fix #2– Seriously great first issue. Smaller print run’s on the second issue. Worth the pick-up.
Harrow County #12– One of the most solid horror books on the market. Optioned, yes, but still a fantastic read.
Project Nemesis #5– I love this book. Giant Monsters made from little girls. Interesting read every time.
House of Penance #2– Great new Dark Horse horror series based around the Winchester House. Google it if you do not know what it is. Great concept and solid story so far.
The Gotta Try it
Heavy Metal #280– Grant Morrison takes over as editor in chief. I want to see where he takes the magazine.
The Gotta Have It
Batman #52– The end of Scott Snyder’s epic run on Batman is here. Of course it will continue on All-star Batman, but still, I want to finish the run out.
The Second Print
The Fix #1 2nd Print– This one is sold out at a lot of online shops. The book is damn funny. There was a time you could not sell a second print, but with alternate covers and smaller print runs they are very desirable.
Small Press Pick of the Week
Unleash #1 – Small print run, movie tie in, crazy looking story, what is not to love. This one will be hard to find and will jump in price. This could be a “turn and burn” situation where it is hot out of the gate and worth selling extra copies, but may not maintain value long term.
Pick of the Week
Action Comics #52– No denying this one is hot out of the gate. It is sold out everywhere. People are interested in where this story is going and which Superman will remain. Plus the mystery of the Chinese Superman still lingers for at least another week.
That is it for me this week. Let us know what you are spec-ing on.

  1. So are we saying Action is a buy and flip, or buy and hold? This whole Superman thing is becoming nonsense. NONSENSE I SAY!

      1. Yeah, I originally saw Snyder being solicited as writer for #52 but yeah, it’s Tynion.. meh, probably gonna suck now! Every time Tynion takes over a Snyder book it just sucks..

        1. Minion I mean Tynion has done some good work on the annuals but is a fill in writer on this book. Might just stop my run at 51 (hey that rhymed!)
