Another week, another new comic book Wednesday. I finally caught up on some of the Rebirth titles I’ve been picking up and I must say, surprisingly one of the ones I like most so far is Titans. Batman is okay, not anything great yet. Wonder Woman is just kind of bland.. I swear if I see the phrase “the story keeps changing” I’m going to rip up the comic and send it back to Rucka with some dung in the package. Justice League wasn’t bad either.. I might pick up a few more to see where it’s going. Hitch is a much better writer than Rucka though.
So enough of my ranting.. let’s get on with the picks..
DC/Vertigo
Suicide Squad Rebirth #1 (DC) – With the movie out, this is my pick. I think more people will be seeking out the comics after they see the movie. I’d go with Harley Quinn but I’m not buying into Harley, yeah her character is cool but to me it’s all hype and her comics fall flat for me.
Marvel Pick
Invincible Iron Man #12 (Marvel) – All eyes have been on the new Iron Man (errr.. Girl), so we should probably pay attention to these, as Civil War draws to a near, I’m sure the pages reveal what lies ahead with Stark, Riri and the rest of the people associated with Iron Man.
Honorable Marvel Mention
Uncanny InHumans #11 2nd Print(Marvel) – The second printing, same cover but it appears they slapped on a “Featuring the First Appearance of Mosaic” on the cover.
Specs of the Week
Hillbilly #2 (Albatross) – #1 still selling well on the after market but this one is already sold out at most online retailers, with a supposed smaller print run + high demand, you know what that amounts to right?
Lady Killer 2 #1 (Dark Horse) – The series I wish was an ongoing series, but I’ll settle with new chapters and volumes, it’s that good and the art is just freaking awesome. Hands down one of my favorite reads in the past, so I have high expectations with this go round.
The Walking Dead Pick
Walking Dead #157 (Image) – Has two covers, a new War is starting. Negan just killed Alpha.. this is gonna get good after a pretty slow period after some people’s heads got chopped off.
The Image Number One Pick
Kill or Be Killed #1 (Image) – Brubaker and Phillips, probably one of the best teams in comics, nuff said.
Here’s something new I’m going to start, since I pick up so many books but not all of them are specs or picks each week, I’m going to introduce my own pulls section, of the titles I love to read currently. So here we go (I’ll skip if any are in the picks above though, ain’t nobody got time for any redundant picks).
Poyo’s Favorite Reads and Pulls List:
Black Science #23 (Image) – What I think is Remenders best title.
Tokyo Ghost #9 (Image) – Hands down Remenders second best title, me thinks, at least for me.
Low #15 – Another Remender book, that’s just simply good.
Paper Girls #8 (Image) – It’s BKV, who isn’t reading any of his titles?
Nailbiter #24 (Image) – Just a great read, would love to see this as a Netflix show.
Godzilla Oblivion #5 (IDW) – I love Godzilla and so does my 10 year old. Something we enjoy together.
Batman #4 (DC) – I love Batman, although this series hasn’t been Snyder type level yet but I love Tom King’s work on Vision so I’m hoping it only gets better.
That’s all I got this week. Leave yer comments here, in the Wednesday forum post or wherever you see fit.

I can’t wait for Kill or be Killed. Brubaker and Phillips are hands down my favorite creator team.
