Variant Envy: Old Man Hawkeye #1 Steve McNiven 1:50 Variant

I do not usually get excited for high ratio variants, but this is one I want to grab. Steven McNiven, cover artist for the Original Old Man Logan series, has a 1:50 variant for Old Man Hawkeye which captures the feel of the original series.

Old Man Hawkeye is out January 10th, 2018. The cover art for the variant is below. The original art for the cover by Steve McNiven & Jay Leisten is actually for sale here.

Nice cover. Is Logan going to be in this series or is it just going to focus on Hawkeye?

It’s beautiful. I just saved the image to my computer and now can look at it anytime I like for free. I’ll never buy it, bag and board it, and throw it into a comic box where it will never be seen again.

If you got a decent printer.. get some nice glossy picture paper, print it up to hang in a frame.. even better. 🙂

Oh and I never buy variants over cover price myself (my local shop also sets out all comics available on the shelves at cover). Only occasionally I’ll buy one if I think it’s has potential on long term value or I just love the artwork.

Speaking of variants … Bulletproof just opened up purchasing for their Dark Nights: Metal #5 Variant by Dell’Otto featuring The Batman Who Laughs. Creepy (and great) looking cover in my opinion … would be an awesome mate to Mattina’s virgin variant of #3 in the same series.
