Each week, hundreds of new comics hit the stands, each with potential. Some live up to that potential. We pick the ones we think have the best shot at heating up. Here are our picks of the week for delivery 8/7/19:
Killer B
Batman #76 Gabriele Dell Otto Card Stock Cover – just a sweet looking cover by Dell Otto, I hate the increased price, but it is a good looking cover.
New #1’s
Coffin Bound #1 – awesome read, new Image series, selling out in advance of release. Good buzz behind it. Selling for above cover.
Berserker Unbound #1 – Really looking forward to this new Jeff Lemire and Mike Deodato book. Especially the Mike Mignola variant.
Cheap Read of the Week
Image Firsts Copra #1 – I have raved about this book and the creator, Michel Fiffe for a while. If you are a fan of old school Suicide Squad, this book is for you, and it is a $1…
Expensive Read of the Week
Absolute Carnage #1 – not a spec book because of the number of copies of this book that will be out there. I read this already and it is a good read. No big Donny Cates cliffhangers, but pretty good all the same.
Marvel Buzz Books
Aero #2 – word of a new character being introduced could make this one a good pick up.
Daredevil #9 – Speaking of new characters, word is we are getting a new Daredevil this issue. We shall see.
The Reprint of the Week
Immortal Hulk #20 2nd Ptg Variant Alex Ross Cover – No 1:25 ratio variant to drive prices up, this one is Alex Ross Pencils and looks good. Sure, retailers may still have copies of #20 first prints, so they may not be ordering this in quantity.
Small Press Gem
Dark Age #1 – No people have had plenty of time to order this already optioned book, and the money lies in the older books already released (ash can is key), but still, people will want the #1 issue.
The Pick of the Week
Dead End Kids #1 – Hands down winner. Source Point bringing the heat on this one. Going for well above cover already. Find it, grab a couple of copies, and flip.
Went to two shops today. Both only got two copies of Dead End Kids and we’re gone before I got there. I need to start scouring Previews better I totally missed this. Also House of X #2 regular covers at both shops were gone as well. I haven’t read the issue yet not sure why they would’ve been sold out
I mentioned this in my Indies Spotlight back in May.. you could read those as well.. 😉
Will do! I plan on reading them from now on since I get the email notifications of new articles. Sad part is I can’t even get it on ComiXology just to read the story lol. Guess I will wait for the trade
If it makes you feel any better, I didn’t even follow my own article and pre-order a copy myself and totally missed out myself. I’ll wait for the trade myself to read.
Also Picked up No One Left to Fight #1 second print and #2. Seems like the first print has settled around double cover. Do you think this is a long term hold?
Could be but could have also seen its peak unless it gets a media deal.
