It’s that time again, where I pick the FOC book of the week before final cutoff.
This weeks FOC list is another big cutoff week but that didn’t stop me from making a final pick and selection.
This week I’m going with a pick from the mind of what some consider the father of sword and sorcery genre with his pulp fiction writings, Robert E. Howard.
Dark Agnes #1 is this weeks FOC pick, based on his early writings from Sword Womanand the character Dark Agnes de Chastillon.
Written by Becky Cloonan and art Luca Pizzari, I’m hoping they do this new character now in the Marvel Universe justice since I think Howard was ahead of his time with his writings and creations.
For those not familiar with Robert E. Howard’s work and creations, he is the creator of Conan, Kull and Soloman Kane among some of his most known characters. Someone correct me if I’m wrong but I do also believe he’s credited as the creator of Red Sonja as well, at least she was partially created based on his character Red Sonya of Rogatino.
1st Comic, if memory serves, was Dark Horse Robert E. Howard’s Savage Sword / 2010 .. working from memory, I don’t know if I’m 100% correct .. she is an excellent character and, if the Entertainment Industry takes note, could make an excellent TV show or movie ..
