Final Order Cut-Off Highlights for 1/20/2020

Final Order Cut-Off is the last day that shops can guarantee their orders for comics. After Final Order Cut-Off, or FOC, these books will only be available to retailers on Advance Reorder. And that is not guaranteed. So here are the highlights for Monday, 1/20/20’s FOC list.

IMAGE/INDY
ALIENATED #1 – new Boom Comics series, a subversive coming-of-age story about about having all the power to change the world but the unready hands to truly wield it. Three teenagers, each an outcast in their own way, stumble upon an unearthly entity as it’s born. As they bond over this shared secret and the creature’s incredible abilities, it becomes clear to the teenagers that their cute little pet is a super-predator in the making – and it’s in need of prey. Guided by the best intentions at first, the teens’ decisions soon become corrupted by adolescent desires, small town jealousies, and internal rivalries, sending them into a catastrophic spiral of their own making.

ALIENS VS PREDATOR THICKER THAN BLOOD #3 – Alien comics have been fantastic reads lately, with great cover art. Thus has been no different. The story of two kids, trapped aboard a crippled space liner with both a Predator and an Alien hunting them. They have only each other on which to depend, and getting even one of them out alive will require a sacrifice . . .

BLACKWOOD MOURNING AFTER #1 – first series was a great read. Evan Dorkin! The next chapter of the hit occult fantasy series Blackwood, from Eisner Awardwinning Evan Dorkin (Beasts of Burden) and the powerhouse art team of Veronica and Andy Fish. Blackwood College is in mourning after the death of Dean Ogden, unaware there’s a traitor in their midst looking to bury the entire school. Meanwhile, the students continue to deal with Dennis’s death, a situation that Reiko not only refuses to accept but plans to rectify. Will mayhem ensue? Duh. A continuation of the hit occult fantasy series. Perfect for Harrow County and Beasts of Burden fans!

VAMPIRELLA #3 REPLICA EDITON – Love the replica editions of these really hard to find early Vampi magazines. These have been filling in the very expensive early holes in my magazine collection. If you like horror comics like Eerie and Creepy, you should check these out.

TARTARUS #1 – New Image comics series. We just pre-viewed this one earlier tonight. All the sci-fi drama of Breaking Bad set in Mos Eisley! Promising young cadet Tilde is framed for crimes against the empire after discovering her mother was the ruthless warlord of the deadly colony Tartarus, a vital player in the galactic war. Now, Tilde’s only way home may be to reclaim her mother’s dark crown. #1 New York Times bestseller JOHNNIE CHRISTMAS (Alien 3) and artistic phenom JACK T. COLE (The Unsound) kick off this ongoing series with 44 big pages of story!

DC
BATMAN PENNYWORTH RIP #1 – DC is finally going to explore the death of Alfred and the fallout from it

CATWOMAN #20 MACDONALD VARIANT – Ian Macdonald has been a fantastic successor to Artgerm on these covers.

DOLLAR COMICS BATMAN #567 – First appearance of Cassandra Cain for a buck.

MARVEL
GWEN STACY #1 New series centering on the early days of Gwen Stacy. Takes place before she appears in Amazing Spider-Man. Features an Adam Hughes cover plus variants by Jeehyung Lee, J Scott Campbell, and others.

NEBULA #1 – Pretty good looking new series featuring the baddie from Guardians of the Galaxy. The 1:25 variant sold out as soon as it hit TFAW. Could be a winner

SPIRITS GHOST RIDER MOTHER OF DEMONS #1 – From the pages of Ghost Rider. Stephanie Hans variant isn’t bad looking.

STAR WARS RISE KYLO REN #3 – following the money on this one. I have sold issues one and two very well. Will keep the flips going.

WOLVERINE BY CLAREMONT & MILLER #1 FACSIMILE EDITION – If you haven’t read Wolverine, the original four issue mini series by Chris Claremont one Frank Miller, you are missing out. Grab the facsimile edition of this classic issue.

VENOM #23 – Venom-Island continues.
