It’s that time again, where I tell you what’s really grinding my gears for the week of January 15th, 2020, which is my first one of the new year.
Some weeks it’s mostly likes, other weeks it’s dislikes.
So what’s grinding my gears this week?
Batwoman Identity Reveal
I’m so happy we’re going to learn who Batwoman is in this weeks issue of Batman Beyond #40.
This isn’t just a like because we might be able to flip some books to make some extra money but I’m just happy when we learn of her identity, I can move on not thinking about it anymore. I know it’s only been a mystery for 4 issues and 4 months but that was the longest 4 months of mystery character identity ever.
If they dragged this on any longer it would have ruined it entirely for me.
Gwen Stacy
Okay, Gwen Stacy of Earth-616 died long ago, well, in our years it was long ago but in Marvel Universe years it was not so long ago. She’s not the current Spider-Gwen that came out of the pages of Edge of Spider-Verse #2 a few years back.
But Marvel is launching a series of her time before she meets Peter Parker, becoming his first romantic love in the Amazing Spider-Man #31 (which is still pretty affordable for such a higher profile character in the Spider-Man Universe).
Marvel is promising new characters, easter eggs and a mystery in this limited series. So as this might seem like it would be a great series targeting the 11-15 year old tween reader crowd, could be some speculation if these new characters come out of this series into the main Amazing Spider-Man title or others related to Spider-Man.
And for you collectors out there that fall for the “sex” sells, the Jeehyung Lee Variant is the one right up your alley I think…
As a Silk fan, I’m digging the Chinese New Year cover they got for this title.. despite Silk having nothing to do with Gwen Stacy, it’s a likely pick up. We need more Silk.
What is everyone else liking or not liking this week? Tell us here in the comments or start a discussion on the forums.
Man, if that Lee was only the 1:200 virgin with no trade available break out the wallets.
Doesn’t Silk shoot her web from the index finger?
I can’t recall….
Isn’t Betty Brant the first romantic interest of Peter Parker in Amazing Spiderman #4? In the early comics, Gwen and Peter seem to dislike each other.
Oh that’s right… It was Betty Brant first.
