It’s a shorter list for our advance review this week but there some good reads among the advanced previews for review we’ve obtained.
Star Wars Rise of Kylo Ren #4 – Retailers were treated to 10 pages of this final issue. In it we have some drama with light saber battles and the final pieces to Ben Solos descent toward the dark side. We are left wondering how the other 2 young Jedi fair. I’ll just speculate a bit here but if they survived, it could mean they will be used later in some form.
Star Wars Darth Vader #2 – This issue follows immediately where the last issue left off and the revelation that Padme is still alive … or is she? Vader relives his past with flashbacks. Each time he makes a move against her he is bombarded with images of the past and how things played out. This was a well written issue and I am trying my best not to spoil it to much. This is a pick up and read for me.
Sub-Mariner Marvel Snapshots #1 – Namor deals with PTSD from WWII. Fights a mechanical Shark suit with a Nazi inside. Captain America and the Torch show up. It was a touching story.
Star Wars Bounty Hunters #1 – Bounty hunters, Wookies and betrayal oh my! This is my personal FOC pick this week. This comic had new players, Boba Fett and best of all – Dr Aphra and her Wookie. This series has a lot of potential and for me, it’s one to not miss.
Nebula #2 – We find out who the mystery savior is from last issue. She helps Nebula heal and then Nebula gets in a fight with the local gangsters. Ballista returns and it turns into a brawl between her and Nebula.
Hawkeye Free Fall #4 – Formation of a new task force to hunt down Ronin. Bullseye makes an appearance.
Cable #1 DX – Young Cable fights some monsters, Wolverine and lots of horrible jokes.
Ant-man #3 (of 5) – Following up from last issue, we discover that there are Savage Land Bugs that are overlords, Ant-man teams up with Spidey and Black Cat while Stinger tags along.

SW Bounty Hunters #1 is also my FOC pick. Some first appearances, which is always good. That Kaare Andrews variant is so damn beautiful.
I’m not a fan of the art in Cable #1. Some people like Phil Noto’s art, I do not. The story was interesting though.
Too many variants to be spec worthy, IMO. But I will be grabbing the Kaare variant as well as the best of the lot and for the read.
Lots to read this week. I stay away from many variants as I am not a fan of paying up – when most fall back down. If I result want it, I’ll buy it later when prices drop.
Yes, patience is a virtue when it comes to buying ratio variants. The chances are more likely they’ll drop to rock bottom prices for most unless there’s just an off chance of some new character first appearance that takes off with huge popularity.
