Dark Horse July 2020 Previews Picks

Now that Previews seems to be updating now with new books from most if not all publishers, I’ll break down my own picks coming out of Previews.

This article will cover Dark Horse books hitting store shelves in the near future.

Cyberpunk 2077: Trauma Team #1  by Cullen Bunn & Miguel Valderrama

Cyberpunk 2077: Trauma Team #1Nadia, an assistant EMT for a privately-owned business known as Trauma Team International, is the sole survivor of a failed rescue mission turned shootout. After she agrees to continue work for an upcoming extraction mission, Nadia and her new team find themselves in an even more dangerous and life-threatening situation.

Featuring the incredible creative team of writer Cullen Bunn (Harrow County, Uncanny X-Men) and illustrator Miguel Valderrama (Giants)

This will be the second time I’ve mentioned this in previews picks but here it is again….

Spy Island #1

Super spy Nora Freud (no relation) has a plum assignment. She’s stationed on a tropical island. Her mission? Keep an eye on things. Her problem? The island is on the lip of the Bermuda Triangle, where anything can happen. Her other problem? This particular island is a den of intrigue, populated by spies, tourists, and evil villains set on global domination.

Spy Island is a four-issue special limited series by the creative team that brought you Man-Eaters.

New comics series from New York Times best-selling author Chelsea Cain!

BANG! #3 is a great new series from Matt Kindt.

BANG! #3

Dr. Queen, scientist extraordinaire, is on the cutting edge of technology, industry, and-with the help of her telepathically controlled super car-terrorist butt kicking.

But when things go south in her attempt to take down a hacking supervillain’s diabolical plans, Queen finds that the lines between truth and fiction are blurred, and she’s drafted into a war to save reality itself.

“BANG! is a fun, twisty spy thriller with a great meta-twist.”-Jay Faerber

Everyone should be reading everything related to Black Hammer from Jeff Lemire.

Skulldigger and Skeleton Boy #4
Skulldigger and Skeleton Boy #4 (Daniel Warren Johnson & Mike Spicer Variant Cover)

Skulldigger and Skeleton Boy #4

With mayor-hopeful and once-superhero Tex Reed in the clutches of a homicidal maniac, both the police and the violent vigilante Skulldigger are one step behind and on a collision course with disaster.

Orville #1 (Volume 2). Keep hearing how this series was great and I’ve been trying to find the excuse to watch and then read.

The Orville #1: Launch Day (Part 1 of 2)

When seemingly hostile Krill ships cross into Union space, the Orville intercepts. Captain Mercer learns they are en route to a planet that left the Union decades ago under mysterious circumstances. Scans have discovered a moon-sized construct above the planet, and the Krill intend a preemptive strike against the presumed weapon. But is it?

I’m really digging these covers for this original screen play adaption for Aliens.

Alien Original Screenplay #2
Alien: The Original Screenplay #2 (Walter Simonson Variant Cover)

Alien: The Original Screenplay #2The intercepted voice transmission has been interpreted-a dire warning . . . but is it too late? As the crew continues to survey the massive pyramid structure, they find an entrance. Who goes in, won’t come out alone . . .

Adapted from the original 1976 screenplay by Dan O’Bannon (author of Moebius’s The Long Tomorrow, cowriter of Total Recall, writer/director of The Return of the Living Dead).
