I received my Bruce Timm HC art book, The Big Tease, in the mail this week. I picked it up from the publisher at a pre-publication sale price. EBay sellers are asking for $100+ when it is still available at the publisher’s website at regular price.
Can you share a link? My wife and I are big Bruce Timm Fans and would like to get a hold on one.

There aren’t. That was bs. The guy who made the claim about it said he was just joking.

I don’t think he was joking, I think he was scamming. He is the one who said he was joking.
It couldn’t be a ‘joke’. There was no set up, no punchline and no context of reference. A poorly executed scam all the way, imo.
But to what purpose was the post done? Was it to sell copies. To move more books for marvel. There were a bunch of shops around me who didn’t get any. I ended up with one copy. It is low printed. We were told by a trusted source that that would not be the cover art (partially true it was purple not yellow) but we were told there could be cover art. That was false. What the dude did with the sketch I have no idea about his motivations. I still don’t understand how it was supposed to benefit anything.
Crappy prank and then CHU’s name gets dragged into it somehow. Meh.. it is what it is. Believe what ya want, doesn’t necessarily mean it’s true.
Well I got 7 Wednesday venom variants ordered after reading on here that it would have actual art on the cover instead of the pastels and words.
But I have made great money flipping those Del Otto Venom 27 preorders so cant complain about this week.
My son grabbed last week’s America all star or whatever it was from image that is what the America Chavez creators would have done with the book of marvel hadn’t ruined it. He enjoyed it.

Someone in the forum wondered aloud if that was possibly the plan. They took that incorrect guess as gospel, I guess.

Yes that, that was bad info given to Anthony from a source that was pretty reliable in the past. So yeah, it happens, you get bad info. I guess that’s strike one.. 2 more and they get dumped as unreliable?
I wasn’t gonna bother ordering these until I thought maybe, just maybe Marvel wouldn’t actually ship out books with such awful covers. But I do believe I pre-ordered an ugly orange cover for Venom but instead I’m getting a purple one. Maybe I just return it when it arrives as “not as described” to get my $3 back..
I can see the Wednesday variants building demand over time since there aren’t any blank variants for Venom 26. If people want commissions done, this will be as close as they’ll get to a blank cover.
Yup and on the forums I do believe I offered anyone who wants a original Poyo doodle on them, send them to me, I scribble on them and send them back.. 😉

You can’t always believe,at face value, what you read on the internet. ?
With a 9.8 Venom 3 smashing the $500 barrier this morning I’m left to wonder. What’s the next most recent book to crack $500 in 9.8 that’s a regular cover, mainstream title, from a mainstream publisher? Not a variant. Not weird small press. Just a big publisher normal comic that was on the rack at cover price in every shop in the country the day it came out?
Venom 3 doing it in two years is insane.
Teen Titans #12 is the most comparable book I suppose..it’s steadily gaining. Certainly not as many copies just sitting on shelves as there were with Venom #3. I specifically recall grabbing another copy of Venom #3 on the Friday after new comic day because I thought it was a cool issue. Teen Titans were pretty hard to find from day one.
In terms of potential future possibilities:
Maybe ole Dylan Brock in Venom #9 just a few issues later if things are developed/he becomes a major new player/character at some point, etc.
Didn’t TT12 come out before Venom was?
So not sure if that technically qualifies as “next most recent” if you’re going by release date.
But good question…and TT12 is definitely on its way.
Venom 7 tongue variant is poised to blow up soon.
Not a regular cover, but yes potential is there. I have a 9.8 candidate.
Same with the Venom #9 animation variant.

It’s also crazy how fast Venom 3 blew up. I got a 9.8 two months ago just over $100. Not much has happened since then other then the King in Black announcement a few days ago and it was already climbing hard before then.
TT12 would be my best guess. Others like Riri you’d need some sort announcement of her replacing RDJ in the MCU.
Batman #89 has been crazy too.
Sold a Invincible Ironman #9 variant for $450. Not a bad return on $5 purchase price.

With Free Comic Book Day issues being spread out across the remaining summer months, are there any examples of FCBD materials that have gone on to become important or essential issues? Should there be ones to watch out for this summer?

Yes. Sixth Gun did. Spider-Man 2007 One Punch man. Miles morales HCF. Star Wars books. There have been a ton worth getting.
Umbrella Academy was another big one.

2020 is almost over. No sense in doing one for this year. Wait until January and put out an early 2021 edition.
2020 in general is pretty craptastic year.. can we just skip to 2021 already and try to forget about 2020 altogether?
I think it’s so funny Iron Man and Wolverine both had books with “2020” in the name and they both turned out to be a smelly as the year itself.

I know my local shops will sometimes put pulls that go unclaimed back on the shelves.. could have been that type of situation, they set out at perfect time for you to snag.
Already sold the trade dressed Venom #27 Knull Gauntlet for $40 so I bought more trade dressed to sale.

Man I’m glad I picked up like 10 regular covers and like around 5 1:10 Variant covers of Amazing Spider-man 4 (the first appearance of Silk) last year for around $80 and $200, respectively. Because they are going to go up up up with the news of her being in the new Spider-verse movie.
Grab cheap Amazing Spider-man #1 for first Cindy as well. Can’t have Silk without Cindy
Yeah I picked up a couple raw copies of Cover A for a few bucks an issue and a 1:300 variant, because a lot of people don’t realize that ASM 1 Vol. 3 is the 1st appearance of Cindy because it doesn’t list it on the CGC slabs. I’m kinda mad you mentioned that ASM 1 is her first appearance because that’s the comic I’ve been secretly loading up on recently because they are still cheap…
I got one of each when the came out $5 for the regular, $15 for the variant
And The ASM 4 copies were all CGC 9.8’s when I picked them up last year, I wouldn’t pay that much for a raw copy. I expect the CGC copies to at least double in price from where they are at now till October, when the new movie comes out. Who knows maybe the 1:10 variant will become as valuable as the 1st Spider-Gwen or Miles Morales ratio variants soon. Because my Ultimate fallout 4 Djurdjevic variant has gone up several thousands of dollars since I bought it.
Right now I’m thinking of arbitraging by selling off Venom 25’s which I bought for $4.79 each then I’m thinking of listing them for around $20 an issue in NM+ or better condition never read or opened, then buying Diamond Retailer Summit Copies of Venom 25 for $15 an issue and holding onto those, because for some reason you can get the DRS copies for a cheaper price than Cover A.
I have some of both. Three extra regular copies and holding my breath on tfaw sending me the PX copies I ordered.
Looks like the Venom #26 SDCC variant sold out already. I managed to snag 1, wish I had picked up a couple more. 1000 copies, pretty crazy.
