Covrprice.com Top Ten for Week Ending 9/18/20

Since Covrprice.com  came on the scene, they have become a go to spot for watching eBaytrends on comics. They scour thousands of eBay sales to cultivate data to spotlight the hottest selling comics. Here is this week’s Top Ten Comics: (Please note, potential spoilers do follow, and, these results are for auction that closed last week. )

#1 BATMAN #92 RETAILER APPRECIATION (DC, 2020) This one-per store takes over the top spot in the Top 10 this week. It sold 56 copies, had a 7-day trend of 95% and had a high sale of $355 for a raw copy. Granted, it’s worth noting that sales have dipped after that high sale. Current market prices are $180 raw.

#2 BLACK PANTHER #2 (MARVEL, 2005) This first appearance of Shuri is seeing her biggest sales to date! It sold 34 copies, had a 7-day trend of 112% and had a high sale of $699.99 for a CGC 9.8.

#3 AMAZING FANTASY #7 (MARVEL, 2005) It was recently announced that the virtual NYCC will have a M.O.D.O.K. animated series panel. In that announcement were several confirmed characters. One of the confirmed names was AIM scientist MONICA RAPACCINI, who’s first appearance is in this issue. There’s also some speculation that her daughter Carmilla Black, aka the NEW Scorpion, might appear, who’s first is also in this issue. It sold 25 copies, had a 7-day trend of 149% and had a high sale of $24.99 for a raw copy.

#4 DARK KNIGHTS DEATH METAL LEGENDS OF THE DARK KNIGHTS #1 (DC, 2020) This book is truly the new BATMAN DAMNED. It continues to sell really well. Raw copies seem to have fallen to about $10, but it still sold 43 copies, had a 7-day trend of 84% and had a high sale of $100 for a CGC 9.8. It doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon.

#5 BLACK PANTHER #5 (MARVEL, 2009) With all the Shuri heat and speculation, this was a surprise. Especially seeing how high these sales are going for. While she’s in full costume on the cover of issue #1, this issue actually features the first appearance of Shuri as Black Panther (on the inside pages). It sold 33 copies, had a 7-day trend of 101% and had a high sale of $406 for a CGC 9.8.

#6 AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #361 (MARVEL, 1992) Carnage is coming and we’re all eagerly awaiting a VENOM 2 trailer. The anticipation is building. You can feel it in these sales as prices increase. This first full Carnage sold 25 copies, had a 7-day trend of 121% and had a high sale of $643 for a CGC 9.8.

#7 MARVEL KNIGHTS SPIDER-MAN #10 Well, the explanation for this market hot book still contains a spoiler for VENOM #28, which comes out next week. Just to respect that, we’ll continue to refrain from mentioning the reveal that’s driving up the price for this 2005 comic. This leak sold 12 copies this week, had a 7-day trend of 236% and had a high sale of $59.99 for a raw copy.

#8 SPAWN #309 (IMAGE, 2020) Gunslinger Spawn is still hanging in there. It sold 29 copies, had a 7-day trend of 91% and had a high sale of $26 for a raw copy.

#9 SUPERBOY #9 (DC, 1994) This FULL appearance of KING SHARK is moving due to his upcoming appearance in Suicide Squad 2. If you can recall, this book first went up when the character was going to appear on CW’s THE FLASH. When he did appear, It was… not good. That appearance may have been the moment speculation ended for CW shows (for the most part). So, here we are again with it selling 22 copies, had a 7-day trend of 118% and had a high sale of $299 for a CGC 9.8. Also, just to note, this book also sold a DC UNIVERSE logo variant for $599 for a CGC 9.8.

#10 SILK #1 (MARVEL, 2015) With a spike in prices and sales for Silk’s first full appearance in Amazing Spider-Man #4 and a cameo appearance in Amazing Spider-Man #1, collectors are now moving on to this first issue of her solo series. It sold 19 copies, had a 7-day trend of 133% and had a high sale of $189.99 for a CGC 9.8.

  1. I envision a day …. a day in the not so distant future …. when a Bronze or even (dare I say) a Silver Age comic makes the Top 10 or even (dare I say) the Runner up list 🙂

Just kind of kidding… I know they do. But it’s just crazy the ratio of these Moderns making the list in comparison

    1. Well, I think it’s the new stuff that’s fresh on peoples radars, etc. If they did lists for silver and bronze age books, well, we might not ever see moderns on the list since you can look up ASM 300 and others that sell tons of copies week in and week out on a more consistent basis..

    2. Batman Damned #1 should still be on the “top list” since I just counted roughly 56 copies that have sold in September alone..

These picks might have some algorithm involved but for the most part, someone’s scowering the news to see what people are talking about on spec sites to compile these lists. 😉

    3. Weekly lists will be hard to out older books on. They are more of a steady slow burn, as opposed to shotgunned weekly spec, imo. If there was an annual list, I’m sure it would be dominated by bronze and silver books.

  2. I’m shocked Avengers 8 didn’t make the cut considering prices has spiked and people asking to buy in various Facebook buy/sell board forums
