January Previews 2021 – Small Publisher Spotlight Books

Previews gives us a glimpse of what’s to come. Here’s the spotlight new books coming out of January Previews for Small Publishers that include Dark Horse, IDW and Image.

These books could see some heat potential but normally I’m just chasing a great read with great art.

Dark Horse

Fear Case #2 from Kindt and Jenkins. Great team-up, rarely disappoint. Hoping this series delivers.

Fear Case #2 (Laurence Campbell Variant Cover)

Dead Dogs Bite #1 which was re-solicited as it was originally suppose to come out earlier if I’m recalling correctly. I’m a sucker for drama mystery, cold case type of feel stories…

I love James Stokoe’s artwork style. So this one is a must for me with Orphan and the Five Beasts #1.

IDW Books

Star Wars Adventures #7. With all the Star Wars love, I’m just gonna start pre-ordering everything Star Wars related. This one has a awesome B variant from Brokenshire, which I think is a new villain being introduced.

There’s also a Star Wars Adventures #7 (Cover A – Francavilla), which I’m a huge fan of as well.

Image Books

Crossover #5. I actually been enjoying this one so far through it’s first 2 issues. Hopefully it keeps me entertained. Until then, does this cover look familiar?

Probably more known for his art, I’ll give this one a chance on story. Karmen #1 is a 5 issue series by Guillem March.

Karmen #1 (Cover B – Manara)
Karmen #1 (Cover C – Blank Cover)

A new Snyder book.

Nocterra #1 hits stands this March. I guess I’ll give it a go. I have not really dug Snyder’s recent works as of lately though, it’s like he’s lost his edge or something.

I do like Tony S. Daniel’s artwork though. There’s also a Jock and Bosslogic (who’s quickly becoming a favorite of mine lately) variant as well along with a glow-in-the-dark cover.

Nocterra #1 (Cover C – Bosslogic)
Nocterra #1 (Cover D – Blank Cover)
Nocterra #1 (Cover E – Glow in the Dark Variant)

Deep Beyond is a new book I’m really looking forward to. Step aside regular cover A though on Deep Beyond #2 and hello Mirka’s awesome looking B variant.

Deep Beyond #2 (of 12) (Cover C – Panosian)
Deep Beyond #2 (of 12) (Cover D – Checchetto)

Two Moons is another series I’m looking forward to. I hope Two Moons #2 keeps me coming back for more and that’s if I like the first issue.

Two Moons #2 (Cover B – Mobili & Segala)

Radiant Black #2 is about someone who finds an alien artifact that gives him super powers. If done right, sounds like it could be an interesting read. So normally new indie books get a few issues while on probation before deciding to continue or drop entirely.

Radiant Black #2 (Cover B – Greco)

Ultramega #1 has the word Kaiju in it. Of course I’m going to check it out.

Ultramega by James Harren #1 (Cover B – Moore)
Ultramega by James Harren #1 (Cover C – Blank Cover)

This last pick is likely just a skim before I buy type of book. For fans of Skyward though, this one might be right up your alley though.

Shadecraft #1 hits stands this coming spring as well. I must say though, the last time Henderson did a book with Jock doing a cover, it saw some love on the secondary market, so keep an eye on the Variant B by Jock.
