Here’s some of the books we’re likely adding to our pre-orders pulls and subscribes.

Dark Horse Books

Huge Alien fan here so this first pick is a must to see how the original screenplay would have likely played out.

Alien: The Original Screenplay #1

An all new Alien with an all new Alien!En route to back to Earth, the crew of the starship Snark intercepts an alien transmission.

Their investigation leads them to a desolate planetoid, a crashed alien spacecraft, and a pyramidic structure of unknown origin. Then the terror begins . . . Just in time for Alien Day (April 26, 2020).

Adapted from the original 1976 screenplay by Dan O’Bannon (author of Moebiuss The Long Tomorrow, cowriter of Total Recall, writer/director of The Return of the Living Dead).

Love Black Hammer so this next one is a must pick up.

Colonel Weird: Cosmagog #1

From the world of the Eisner Award-winning Black Hammer series comes a bizarre sci-fi adventure origin story!

Colonel Weird: Cosmagog #1 (Jeff Lemire & Dave Stewart Variant Cover)Wacky space adventurer Colonel Randall Weird leaves Black Hammer farm and embarks on a strange journey through space and time for something that he’s long forgotten with his sanity and life at stake!

”Jeff Lemire’s Black Hammer feels like it’s walking two roads–one honoring the past of superhero comics, and one forging a path into the future of the genre.”-Cullen Bunn

This one had me spy and Nazi, set in the period right before WWII.

The Last Knight of St. Hagan #1

Some hauntings are more potent than others. A wily Polish spy, pursued by a group of Nazi enforcers, flees through the small town of Torun.

The year is 1939, the beginning of the German occupation, and he carries important information for the resistance. But a bullet, a tomb, and a ghost–perhaps even God–have their own plans for the spy, and they will involve the mystical crusader knight St. Hagan.

Mike Mignola and Scott Allie join with artist Andrea Mutti and colorist Lee Loughridge to bring you this dark tale of bloody intrigue and otherworldly horror.

I was drawn into this one on the main cover. Love the old classic 70s novel cover they got going on with this one. The story comes off as pretty appealing as well as I love the Bermuda Triangle conspiracies.

Spy Island #1

Super spy Nora Freud (no relation) has a plum assignment. She’s stationed on a tropical island.

Her mission? Keep an eye on things.

Spy Island #1 (Lia Miternique Variant Cover)Her problem? The island is on the lip of the Bermuda Triangle, where anything can happen.

Her other problem? This particular island is a den of intrigue, populated by spies, tourists, and evil villains set on global domination.

Spy Island is a four-issue special limited series by the creative team that brought you Man-Eaters.* New comics series from New York Times best-selling author Chelsea Cain!

IDW

Crow fans will seek these out and Peach Momoko is doing the regular covers, which is an added bonus as she’s been on fire lately with some of her variants for Marvel.

Crow Lethe #3 (of 3)

From writer/artist Tim Seeley (Green Lantern, Nightwing, Shatterstar), comes the thrilling conclusion of The Crow: Lethe.

Null discovers the truth about himself as the forces of The Crow compel him to get revenge before the twisted Calvin Morgau can steal the souls of those he’s come to call family.

This next one seems intriguing. It’s a definite check out book.

Sleeping Beauties #1 (of 10)

Sleeping Beauties #1 (of 10) (Cover B - Woodall)Based on the horror novel by Stephen and Owen King and adapted by Rio Youers (The Forgotten Girl) and Alison Sampson (Hit Girl, Winnebago Graveyard)! With A covers by Annie Wu (Black Canary, Hawkeye)!

A strange sleeping sickness, known as Aurora, has fallen over the world, and strangest of all, it only affects women. In the small town of Dooling, a mysterious woman has walked out of the woods; she calls herself Eve and leaves a trail of carnage behind her.

More mysterious: she’s the only woman not falling asleep.

Image Comics

Fraction has been hit or miss. It’s either going to be a great read or a total dud. I’ll give him a chance though on this new series.

Adventureman #1

SERIES PREMIERE! A CATACLYSMIC ADVENTURE DECADES IN THE MAKING! In this WILDLY AFFORDABLE TRIPLE-LENGTH FIRST ISSUE, revisit how the legend of the greatest pulp hero of them all, ADVENTUREMAN, ended in a heartbreaking CLIFFHANGER with our hero facing execution at the vile hand of his ultra-nemesis BARON BIZARRE on the eve of the MACABRAPOCALYPSE…or did it?!?

Eighty years after his apparent demise, single mother Claire and her Adventurefan son Tommy seem to be the only two people alive that remember the thrilling ADVENTUREMAN sagas…but from that memory burns THE SPARK OF RESURRECTION! WHERE HIS STORY ENDED…HER STORY BEGINS!

This sense-obliterating, earth-shaking, imagination-quaking adventure that spans generations comes to you from MATT FRACTION (SEX CRIMINALS, Hawkeye) and TERRY & RACHEL DODSON (X-Men/Fantastic Four, RED ONE)!!!

I really dig his artwork and this series might be a great read. So I’m looking forward to the potential this one has.

Mirka Andolfo Mercy #2 (of 6)

The Woodsburgh Devil strikes again when another innocent victim falls into the clutches of the elusive killer.

Meanwhile, Lady Hellaine invites the local bourgeoisie to a social event, attracting the attention of the powerful Lady Swanson.

Subterfuge and lies emerge as the second chapter of MIRKA ANDOLFO’s new project divulges a shocking revelation.

Hickman is great, when he produces. I have high expectations out of this new series. Let’s just hope it doesn’t vanish after the 3rd or 4th issue, never to be seen again.

Decorum #2

There are many assassins in the known universe. This is the story of the most well-mannered one.

‘Manner is personality-the outward manifestation of one’s innate character and attitude toward death.’

Nailbiter was a great series. One of the last Image titles I think I bought every single issue to pick up and read.

Nailbiter Returns #1

SERIES PREMIERE! JOSHUA WILLIAMSON & MIKE HENDERSON’S CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED HIT HORROR SERIES RETURNS!

Sixteen of the world’s worst serial killers were all born in the same small town…but Agent Finch and Sheriff Crane solved and buried that mystery. Didn’t they?

Violent copycat murders imitating the infamous Buckaroo Butchers have begun in Portland, Oregon, and if Finch wants the killings to stop, he’ll have to team up with the daughter of the Nailbiter himself. A brand-new mystery begins in this EXTRA-LENGTH FIRST ISSUE!
