Welcome to my own weekly spec which includes my weekly drek picks. I pick what I think will be winners, not only if you make money by flipping but winners as in either a great read or just awesome art.
Then there’s the pesky drek, the comic you should avoid altogether or not fall into the buying every variant trap.

Hey, CHU, DrunkWooky here!
Well, IDW has moved on to the Empire Strikes Back adaptation run of Star Wars vol. 1 issues for their Mini Comic Collector’s Packs.
I purchased a single pack of the A New Hope Mini Comic reprints and lucked out enough to get #1! I wanted to strike similar gold here and get a miniature version of Boba Fett’s first appearance, issue #42! Well, I batted a 1,000! 1 for 1.

Still trying to figure out if this is an anomaly but it was already mentioned in the comment section so I wanted to bring it to light. Ragnarok #1, which sold out through IDW has been seeing some heat Continue reading “Ragnarok #1. A comic heating up?”
Last one for the night I promise. Two more flipable pre-orderable books coming out of San Diego Comic Con. These are for Dr. Who books from IDW. This show has a huge fan base and could be easy sells. Continue reading “Dr Who SDCC Variant flip idea”
Thanks to Terry Hoknes at www.hoknescomics.com for this little tidbit. I know people laugh at kids comics being valuable or collectible, but I can say that I sold a ton of My Little Pony #1 Phantom Variants when they came out. Almost 99% went to adult males, as the Bronie culture (which I am NOT a part of) is so big. I caught a lot of flack from people in stores when I was picking the books up, but when they found out how much money I had been making off them, they picked up a couple too. We had previously mentioned Wild Blue Yonder #1 from IDW had sold out. It is a fantastic new creator owned book that deals with a post-apocalyptic world where the people have moved to the skys and are living on air craft. The bad guys are searching for a legendary air ship called the Wild Blue Yonder which runs without gas.
Now, issue number 2 has sold out at the distributor level two weeks before it’s release. The print run is a measly 5,350 issues, way less than the first issue. This could be the book to pick up when it is released.
