Comics Pick of the Week for 2/5/14

This is a big week, an especially big week for Marvel. For DC, there are some returning recently hot characters getting books released. Check out our picks of the week.
The New Marvels people will be buying:
Wolverine #1– There’s a BIG twist in the issue, and I really, really do not want to ruin it for you.
Ms. Marvel #1– Kamala Khan’s first full appearance.
Loki Agent of Asgard #1– Teen Loki is hot, this is the outsider bet on the Marvel books of the week.
Punisher #1– Frank Castle in Los Angeles.
DC’s people will be buying:
Batman: The Joker’s Daughters #1 – Come on, you have to do something with the character besides the pretty face. Here’s hoping!
DC Comics Presents: Harley Quinn #1– Features the Classic Alex Ross cover. Includes reprints of the Alex Ross book, and her first appearance in Batman the Animated Series. Yes, its kind of a TPB, but this will be snagged up even at $7.99
The Outside chance:
Apocalypse Al #1– JMS new Imae book. Previous ones haven’t done much. However, a preview book was sent out to retailers that is commanding bigger bucks.
Turok Dinosaur Hunter #1– Sold out before release, but with a print run of 37,000 and 21 variant covers. This one is a toss up.
The one based on Movie news:
Sheltered #7– I have been loving this book and happy with the movie news. Issue 6 changed up the pace so very interested to see where this goes.
Some other favorites are out this week as well: Think Tank #12, Twilight Zone #2, Wild Blue Yonder #5, Grindhouse Doors Open at Midnight #5.

  1. I’m about sick of the marvel #1s in order to boost sales. After superior Spidey ends, the only marvel comic I’ll be reading is Hawkguy… too bad it can’t come out timely! I agree with your joker’s daughter assessment. You can’t tell the same story 3x (JD 3d, Catwoman, now the one shot). Sheltered is a hot commodity right now. Sucks that the only pop we seem to get is out of movie or TV news, and incentive covers.
