Speculation Corner for March 5th, 2020

We had all sorts of speculation rumors over the past week. It’s time to sit back and disseminate the news and discuss what we think. So put your Tin Foil Hats on while we dive into the info provided.

Sesame Street is coming back to the big screen. If you were born after 1985, you probably don’t recall their first movie Follow That Bird.

We get to see Big Bird and the gang on the silver screen again. Believe it or not, Oscar, Grover, Big Bird and the Gang had a short run in comics back in 2013. There were 6 standard covers and a few store variants.

Word from our sources indicate that the Black Knight will have an “origin” story type script in The Eternals. He is rumored to be getting his sword and armor in the movie, not just more of a background or supporting role type of character.

Cult favorite, Trancers,  is being remade by Legendary Pictures. Action Labs did a short series based on the original movie. Worth a see as it was a great series.

Thor: Love and Thunder is set to begin filming in August. Looks like Christian Bale is set to play a big part in the movie. Rumor and speculation is that he will Play Beta Ray Bill.  Jane, Valkyrie and my favorite, Korg, are set to reappear in this sequal.

Rumor has it that Ben Schnetzer was cast as the lead male, who is Yorick in Brian K. Vaughn’s Y: The Last Man. Honestly this show has been in development for way to many years but casting gets us one step closer hopefully to this one making it to our screens.

A few of the Squadron Supreme characters are rumored to show up in Disney+ Loki streaming show. I don’t know who but not the whole team from the news provided. Let the speculation commence on who could end up getting cast.

And that’s all I have for this week so far. Enjoy and happy hunting!

  1. Interesting! I’ve actually heard other whispers about Squadron Supreme this week. To add to it, they are suddenly popping up in new books/previews as well. They have a one shot & Hyperion/SS is featured in the new Taskmaster series (Hyperion on the cover).
I was not very familiar with the team/character specifics (1st appearances). Their history is pretty convoluted & I’m not a big fan of “alternate timelines” so I had avoided them previously.
Figured, what the hell & bought anything I thought would be relevanty. It was fun learning/researching & since the books weren’t part of my collection it was a win/win.
Anyone please add if you feel I missed a “must have” book related to SS. I realize there are mini series/recent stuff but I focussed on team 1sts/origins/older stuff.
    Avengers 69
    Avengers 70
    Avengers 85
    Defenders 112
    Thor 280

There are some later Avengers (141 up) as well that involve them heavily.

    Happy Hunting!

  2. Thank god if Bale is Beta Ray Bill, I like that character and I actually have Thor 337. As opposed to one of the seemingly endless first appearances in God of Thunder like Knull, Gor, Dario Anger or whatever his face is, lol.

    1. Miss those towers. The first time I went to the world Trade center was when they were filming the 1976 King Kong. They still had the giant monkey, or parts of it on the ground covered in plastic from when they did the final scenes.Still have the brochures from that visit. No King Kong on them but still, a very good memory.
