CHU was in attendance for a two day event hosted by Coffin Comics called The Black Gala. While we have covered comic-cons of all sizes, this was an entirely unique event which I haven’t seen from any other publisher. Coffin is bold in trying new things.

San Diego Comic Con 2024 Wrap Up
CHU was in attendance for San Diego Comic Con 2024. The days of covid apprehension and writer’s strikes are over, SDCC was back to 2019 levels of madness. While I loved the high energy that came with it, some were definitely struggling with the crowding, especially those who started going in the last few ‘rebuilding’ years. Wondercon 2024 Cosplay Gallery
Wondercon is well known for it’s cosplay. I think it’s stronger than SDCC, mostly likely as it’s easier to travel to and cosplayers don’t have to walk miles in their elaborate outfits just to get to the convention center. Show them some love in the comments! Continue reading “Wondercon 2024 Cosplay Gallery”
Wondercon 2024 Wrap Up
Hi CHU Fam, hope life is good for everyone in 2024! CHU visited Anaheim for 2 days to check out Wondercon 2024 over the weekend of March 29th to March 31st. I originally booked this trip assuming you can’t go wrong with a show by Comic-Con International, but at the time I didn’t realize it was Easter weekend….ooops. It wasn’t on Easter weekend the year before, but I decided to keep my plans and make the most of it. Continue reading “Wondercon 2024 Wrap Up”
San Diego Comic Con 2023 Cosplay Gallery
Cosplayers bring the charm to the con scene, making our favorite characters come to life. It’s fun to see what kind of creativity they will bring and you always see something new. SDCC is where you see some of the most elaborate costumes. Show them some love in the comments! Continue reading “San Diego Comic Con 2023 Cosplay Gallery”
San Diego Comic Con 2023 Wrap Up
Back at the big show! CHU attended San Diego Comic-Con 2023 over the week of July 19th. COVID who? SDCC was back to pre-pandemic levels of crowding with no restrictions. The exhibit hall was the most consistently packed it’s been in the Hollywood era. Likely due to the writer’s strike which announced that actors would join the strike not even a week before the show started. I estimate that celebrity attendance takes probably 30K attendees off the exhibit floor at any given time; whether they are in many of the large panel rooms or waiting in line to get into one of those rooms. Wondercon 2023 Wrap Up
CHU’s first visit to Wondercon in Anaheim, CA was over the weekend of March 24th to 26th, 2023. This convention is run by Comic-Con International and just as well executed as SDCC. I’ve been wanting to attend this one for many years but it kept landing on Easter weekend, then covid, then restrictions, now we are finally here! Continue reading “Wondercon 2023 Wrap Up”
Wondercon 2023 Cosplay Gallery
Wow Wondercon! I can’t recall seeing this much cosplay in a few years. They were out in force and looked amazing. So much dedication especially these folks carrying around giant props all day. Give them some love in the comments! Continue reading “Wondercon 2023 Cosplay Gallery”

Even in a small city like Tucson, the cosplayers come out in force. I love seeing the creativity and passion they put into the outfits, it’s an extremely fun aspect of modern conventions. Check them out!! Continue reading “Tucson Comic Con 2022 Cosplay Gallery”
Tucson Comic Con 2022 Wrap Up
The “rebuilding year” for comic cons is coming to an end as shows are getting their first post pandemic show under their belts. Tucson Comic Con is one I was excited for as it was my last con before covid hit, the good vibes had to last me almost 2 years before I attended another convention. TCC took place over Labor Day weekend at the Tucson Convention Center in AZ. This is becoming one of the most fun shows I regularly attend. Continue reading “Tucson Comic Con 2022 Wrap Up”

San Diego Comic-Con 2022 Wrap Up
CHU was at San Diego Comic Con on the weekend of July 22, 2022. Can’t believe I just wrote that! The real SDCC, not a smaller ‘special edition’. A lot has changed in 3 years but the magic is still there: celebs, exclusives, major hype, and LINES! Continue reading “San Diego Comic-Con 2022 Wrap Up”

Phoenix Fan Fusion 2022 Wrap Up
CHU was at Phoenix Fan Fusion 2022 over the Memorial Day weekend. Finally! After 3 years! My first returning big con since the pandemic, and overall I would say it was a rebuilding year for this Southwest con. The guest list was subdued compared to previous events which drew almost sellout crowds. Not that I’m complaining. I’m happy to see an event of this size finally happen as the last one was in 2019. SwornFest! 2022 Wrap Up
CHU was at Sworn Fest 2022 over the weekend of February 25th in Mesa, AZ. I would refer to it as Fiend Fest 2019 Family Reunion. Many friends were reunited, I got to see so many people I haven’t seen in 3 years and it was good for the soul. Continue reading “SwornFest! 2022 Wrap Up”

San Diego Comic-Con SE 2021 Wrap Up
Long time no talk CHU! I’ve been chomping at the bit to hit up a con since November 2019. San Diego Comic Con Special Edition took place over the Thanksgiving weekend. Wasn’t sure what it was going to feel like, but once I was inside that specific exhibit hall with all the old SDCC signage it was like no time had passed. Many exhibitors I spoke with viewed this con the same way I did – dipping our toes back in the water before the big show comes back in July. Continue reading “San Diego Comic-Con SE 2021 Wrap Up”
