Kickstarter Launch Party – Lady Death Malevolent Decimation

On Feb 19th, I was lucky enough to attend another one of Coffin Comics Kickstarter launches for the newest chapter in the modern Lady Death series – Malevolent Decimation.  It took place at Coffin HQ where many livers have been decimated!  Okay, enough with the jokes… Continue reading “Kickstarter Launch Party – Lady Death Malevolent Decimation”

Tucson Comic Con 2019 Wrap Up

Tucson Comic Con took place over the weekend of Nov 1st through the 3rd.  Quickly becoming my favorite off-season con, it’s a great size con for this time of year. Enough attendance that it feels like a big show but not so hectic that you don’t get time to have some great conversations with guests and fans. Continue reading “Tucson Comic Con 2019 Wrap Up”

Into The Coffinverse! CHU at Lady Death Kickstarter Party

Independent publisher Coffin Comics builds lifelong relationships with fans through interactive events online and locally. Coffin Comics hosted a party in Tempe, AZ for the launch of their newest Kickstarter – Lady Death: Blasphemy Anthem.  It was a great night, I can’t believe how many awesome friends I have made through Coffin events over the years.   Continue reading “Into The Coffinverse! SDCC 2019 Wrap Up – Louie M’s Adventures

Greetings CHU!  Our Superbowl took place last weekend in San Diego with every major comic publisher under one roof plus movie and TV studios, here is one person’s ground view of the event.  I know you all heard the Phase 4 news and probably gobbled up all those keys by now! Check out some of my “not Hall H” experiences… Continue reading “SDCC 2019 Wrap Up – Louie M’s Adventures”

SDCC 2019 Cosplay Gallery

I felt there were strangely less coplayers than previous years.  I don’t know why but the speculation was more strict prop policies mixed with all of Harbor being shut down in front of the convention center for badge holders only – it was simply more difficult to get close to the convention.  Doesn’t mean there wasn’t many talented and creative people to take pics of.  I really loved the family doing the Jurassic Park characters. Tell us who your favorites are in the comments! Continue reading “SDCC 2019 Cosplay Gallery”

Phoenix Fan Fusion 2019 Coverage – Guests & Exclusives

Phoenix Fan Fusion 2019 (formerly Phoenix Comicon) starts with a preview night on Thursday, May 23rd and CHU will be there!  We have been covering this large Phoenix Con for several years, they hit all the marks between celebrities, artists, creators, and comics vendors.  And at $85 for a full 4 day pass, the price is reasonable for the vast amount of entertainment. Coffin Comics Fiend Fest Wrap Up

During the weekend of February 22nd to 24th, I had one of the most unique experiences in the near decade I have been attending and reporting on cons – Brian Pulido’s Fiend Fest in Mesa, AZ.  A 3-day party was thrown by Brian and his Coffin Crew of the most fiendishly…notoriously…infamously…endlessly……NICEST and warmest people you ever met! Honestly, Brian and his team have an inviting and inclusive culture about them that spread across the fan base.  I met so many friendly people in this ocean of black shirts, made some new friends, and had a great weekend. Tucson Comic Con 2018 Wrap Up

Tucson Comic Con is about 2 hours outside of Phoenix and has been growing their annual con over the years. Today it’s a very well run event with over 10K attendees and well worth my drive. The show brought some legends like Dennis O’Neil as well as rising stars like Eric M Esquivel (Border Town). I was only able to attend Sunday, so here are a few quick highlights: Continue reading “Tucson Comic Con 2018 Wrap Up”

San Diego Comic Con 2018 Cosplay Gallery

Cosplayers are one of the best parts of attending any comic convention. They were not around conventions when I was a kid, and it’s a blessing to have them today.  They bring our favorite characters to life.  Check out the Cosplay that was on display in San Diego! San Diego Comic Con 2018 Wrap Up

San Diego Comic Con, the Nerd Superbowl, started on July 18th.  This was definitely a transition year for SDCC. Almost everything is a lottery now.  On one hand, it’s an even playing field. On another hand, those who are more vigilant and willing to work harder don’t get an advantage.  Depends on your definition of fairness. Attendees could sign up in what’s called an “Exclusives Portal” for lotteries to all major signings and exclusive booths.  I entered for almost everything in every time slot. I won nothing. Squat. So we can say I wasn’t a big fan this year. My main request of SDCC is to only allow each winning attendee to win only once, since some people won multiples while some won nothing. Cosplayers went all out as usual.  They are always good but this year was on another level. I always try to catch as many of the endless Harley variants as I can. One of my favs is Amber Brite (, a fantastic cosplayer and prop maker.  I regularly see her at conventions. She is super nice, wears an amazing new outfit every day, and should probably be on a Hollywood set with her prop and prosthetic making skills. Met the very charming Ashm0nster ( who knocked it out of the park with her Junko E cosplay, and I discovered her awesome Twitch channel. Kudos to Cos A Commotion for an incredible GOTG set at their booth, plus taking donations and giving proceeds to Pets for Vets.

Phoenix Comic Fest 2018 Wrap Up

Phoenix Comic Fest (formerly Phoenix Comicon) took place over the Memorial Day weekend.  2017 was a rough year for the event: staffing issues, near shooting incident, and taking on SDCC over the use of ‘comic con’ name. That’s all in the past now and they have revamped the con for 2018 in many ways. Now wristbands are mailed in advance, far more security checkpoints/entrances, and a slew of minor improvements throughout the convention center. Continue reading “Phoenix Comic Fest 2018 Wrap Up”

Ace Comic Con 2018 Cosplay Gallery

Cosplayers are usually the most charming part of attending a comic con.  Wasn’t sure what to expect at a new show, new location, new time of year.  As always, cosplayers were out in force, especially on Saturday when there was a cosplay contest on the big celebrity stage to showcase their efforts.  I always love seeing Lady Death cosplay, and shout out to Alina Masquerade (@alinamasquerade) for an incredible Jessica Rabbit cosplay and being one of the cosplay judges.  Additional shout out to Keely Madison (@itskeelymadison) for her killer Joker cosplay.  Check out the pics! Ace Comic Con 2018 Wrap Up

Louie M. covers West Coast conventions for
What up CHU!! Ace Comic Con took place in Glendale, AZ on January 13-15.  It’s important to set the bar right when judging ACC, this is their first year of existence and their second show ever. Given that, the guest list is bonkers for a new con: Chris Evans, Tom Holland, Sebastian Stan, Jon Bernthal, Hayley Atwell, Hulk Hogan, and many more from the cast of Captain America and Spider-man. Game On Expo was not short on high quality cosplay. Unlike comic-cons, the costumes were mostly geared toward video games. Fun to see something a little different from the norm, check out the awesome cosplay! Continue reading “Game On Expo 2017 Cosplay Gallery”

Hi CHU Family!  Growing up, when I didn’t have a comic book in my hand, I had a video game controller. Today the convention scene has grown to accommodate large conventions for all types of fandoms and subcultures, and gaming is a perfect fit.  Game On Expo took place in Phoenix, AZ on August 11-13th with three full days of programming.
