Final Order Cut-Off Highlights for 7/1/19

Final Order Cut-Off is the last day that shops can guarantee their orders for comics. After Final Order Cut-Off, or FOC, these books will only be available to retailers on Advance Reorder. And that is not guaranteed. So here are the highlights for Monday, 7/1/19’s FOC list.

MARVEL

HOUSE OF X #1 – Relaunching of X-Men from Jonathan Hickman. New characters and adaptations galore.

FEARLESS #1 – All female team lead by Captain Marvel. With Marvel introducing a potential female team in Avengers Endgame, this could be of interest.

MARVEL COMICS PRESENTS #6 2ND PRINT – 2nd Print variant for the first appearance of Wolverine’s daughter that took spec and collector’s by storm. There is also a crazy ratio variant for it.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY #7 – Death of Rocket story kicks off.

VALKYRIE JANE FOSTER #1 – Following out of War of the Realms, Jane Foster becomes the next Valkyrie. Some cool variants on this one too.

X-MEN #137 FACSIMILE EDITION – Reprinting the climax to the Dark Phoenix Saga.

SWORD MASTER #1 – One of the stand out new stars of New Agents of Atlas gets his ow series.

DC

BATMAN CURSE OF THE WHITE KNIGHT #1– Sean Murphy’s follow up to Batman White Knight.

IMAGE/INDY

DARK AGE #1 – Don Handfield’s new series. Has been optioned.

ROMAN RITUAL VOL 2 #1 – Oh Man, one of my favorite horror books is coming out with a second volume. You can check out my review of the original book here.

      1. $12.99 MSRP times 6 Pops comes to $77.94. That qualifies for 1 FREE exclusive comic from Diamond if the stores included it for free with the 6.

At $60 for a set of 6 they’re basically giving them away a little profit after Diamonds invoiced amount for 6 plus the shipping space/weight they add to the invoice for getting them delivered.

I never have figured out why people go into business to NOT make money. There’s no upside to dumping Diamond exclusives without making good money on them since they do nothing to increase discounts on anything else you’re buying. All risk for no reward and in this case the production run is limited to only 30,000 so when the additional sets you dump on the market take the total orders over the maximum they can produce, you force EVERYONE to get allocated and then the little bit of money you were going to make, you don’t even get that since you just got allocated into having less to sell.

What’s Paypal’s fee or the Credit Card companies fee’s also coming off what little is left from $60 after shipping and Diamond’s invoice amount? All risk, no reward!!

  1. All those sales dollars totals get added here to the amount we have to pay taxes on yearly for town and county business licenses also.

I just finished up my new 1st of the month headache having to separate out all sales and transaction and keep records of them based on which State they shipped to since all the new Sales Tax laws are no requiring that. Many States, as few as 200 transactions can trigger you now having to collect, file and pay Sales Tax so I’m doing everything I can think of to REDUCE low profit sales to stay under the limits.

It’s a shame to think that the money pit Funko stocking has become, the few items we can get that Walmarts and the big chains can’t get and saturate the market on before we even get them in the door is being blown out for nothing and most likely going to end up getting us allocated so we can’t satisfy the customers we do get short of doubling or tripling our order size right now hoping to have some arrive after they get allocated because of idiots.

Going to double my order right now just in case. I’m starting to root for Trump tariffing the hell out of everything Funko tries to slip in the country. Nothing like the thrill of presales for one price just to get half allocated that you can’t fill and the other half price jumped a buck a POP due to tariffs you didn’t take time to consider might get applied affecting the invoice price.

  2. Epilogue was a surprising delight to read and a must have for X-Men late 70’s 80’s fans.

WEB OF VENOM FUNERAL PYRE #1 only let us see 3 pages but it looks like it’s going to be good and I liked what I saw inside better than the cover.

History of Marvel Universe is just that. Page after page introducing elements of the Marvel Universe in the order roughly they happened with explanations so to speak. Instead of a list of references though they put a good number of pages showing excerpts at the end for their citations which could have people chasing down some of the comics directly named. Surprise Narrators at the end of time for the story that are neither Thanos or that Cosmic Ghost Rider.

Guardians looks like the start of another humongous cosmic disaster and claims to be leading to the death of Rocket.

Swordmaster I actually enjoyed the second story a little more than the 1st story in the book.

      1. Tell your LCS that Diamond as of 4:12 AM still has them in stock so reordering is possible. Case pack is 80 copies it seems so I ordered another 80 just thinking maybe I’d get an unopened case and of course the order fills 75 copies from one source and 5 form another so no guarantee there. Maybe some of the orders yesterday will ship a solid case when combined for packing. Theses are copies that could arrive on the 10th but more likely the 17th if ordered now.
