Terry Hoknes of Hoknes Comics weekly hot comics list. Terry has been ahead of the curve with independent books especially ‘Skyward’ #1 a few weeks ago. This weeks video features ‘Outliers’, which looks good and could heat up, as well as. ‘It Came’ from Titan comics

Market Watch-1 year after: Independent #1’s!
Hi everyone, my apologies for the last several weeks. Been very busy with a huge move and family festivities. Today I wanted to share some of the #1 comics from independent publishers (yes, Image Comics counts as one…still.) I bought within the last 2 years (excluding 2013). There are some caveats to consider with these current values/prices found on Ebay:
1) Some represent averages from a price range found on Ebay
2) Some are published earlier than 2 years ago, but bought within the last 2 years (ie. Morning Glories)
3) I have listed only those comics that I actually own. Continue reading “Market Watch-1 year after: Independent #1’s”
The Diamond Comics Advanced Reorder list shows what comic shops are upping their orders on before the books ship. These could be new #1′s, books that have got some heat behind them, 2nd prints of already sold out books, or stuff that buyers are coming in asking for. This week is a treasure trove of sold out books going back for 2nd prints. This means the first prints are long gone from the distributor and could be seeing an increase in price.

One way to guage how hot a comic is/will be is by the Diamond Comics Advanced reorder list. This gives retailers a chance to up their orders for books that may have caught some heat before the release and before the final order cut offs. Every week brings a slew of new books to the shelves. Every week we pick which ones might heat up on the secondary market. It is always fun to guess. Let us know what you think are this week’s big books.
Last of Us American Dreams has been the surprise hit of a slow May-June selling period. Prices remain fairly high, as there was a tiny print run on the book. Considering how well the video game was received, and rated by critics, the book was a natural to take off. Below is an overview of prices for the comic:
All issues:
Last of Us American Dreams #1 has been selling extremly well.
Last of Us American Dreams #1 is selling for $20 to $30 on average.
Even #1 Second Print, is commanding a premium, mostly due to the small print run of the first print.
Last of Us American Dreams #1 2nd Print is selling for around $9.99 on Average.
The second issue is a strong seller as well.
Last of Us American Dreams #2 is going for $17 to $23.
The third issue just came out and is selling at a premium.
Last of Us American Dreams #3 averaging $9.99 for the newly released issue.
Each week we point out books that we think may have some heat behind them or are picking up steam. Here are the books that are delivered this Wednesday 6/26/13 worth checking out. Sorry for getting this out late.
One way to tell what comic has heat to it is seeing what retailers are ordering. The Diamond Comics Advanced reorder list shows what retailers are increasing their orders on before the books come out. A lot of books on the list tend to be new books retailers are being asked about or second issues that retailers enjoyed success with selling the first issue. So without further ado, this week’s advanced reorders. Continue reading “Diamond Comics Advanced Reorder list 6/21/13”
IDW announced two sold out books this week, ‘Half Past Danger’ #1 and 2 and ‘Wild Blue Yonder’ #1.
‘Wild Blue Yonder’ had a print run of 12,327 and was sold out before it hit the stands. This does not mean that your local comic shop does not have copies, it means that they cannot reorder first prints after they sell out.
I have store variants and Phantom Variants signed by the creative team for sale if anyone is interested. Email me at apopcomics@gmail.com or hit us up on facebook at www.facebook.com/comicsheatingup for pricing and details.
Looks like IDW had a couple of recent releases that did pretty well. IDW was proud to announce that their book ‘Half Past Danger’ #1 and 2 are sold out at the distributor level and would be going back for a second printing. The second book came out last week. This had previously been one of our picks of the week. The print run on number 1 was fairly small for a new book at only 8,500 copies.
I do have the subscription variant available
if anyone is interested. Discount rates for multiple copies purchased. Email me at apopcomics@gmail.com if interested or hit us up on facebook at www.facebook.com/comicsheatingup

Each Tuesday we pick which books we are speculating on to be the “big” books of the week. This week we have some really interesting picks. Check them out below and let us know what you think:
Marvel Comics version of Angela. Original breaking story that Angela would be joining Marvel Comics Guardians of the Galaxy sent Spawn #9 soaring, now that people are getting their first look and further news of the plans for her, this book could take off again. Regardless, interst hasn’t been this high in a Spawn issue in years.
If you have followed me over from our old blog site, thank you. We will now be hosting on wordpress just because it is easier for us to deal with. We will still provide you with the same great news and speculation on comics that are rising on the eBay market. We still will give you this information before others find out so you can still find them in your local comic shops.
Thanks again, and if you are new, welcome and enjoy the speculation.
