Rat Queens #1 Signed by Kurtis Wiebe and Roc Upchurch available again

Rat Queens #1 Signed by Kurtis Wiebe and Roc Upchurch available again

The response to the signed books was overwhelming and I sold through the batch I had signed by Kurtis Wiebe (Peter Panzerfaust) and Roc Upchurch. People have been asking me if they are still available. Third Eye Comics, the store that hosted the event, has made available to me and the blog readers, signed copies they had gotten. If you do buy it now, the books are $14.95 shipped for the first copy and $10 each additional copy. Please wait to be invoiced so you get the discount. Mke sure you mention the blog when you request an invoice for 1 or more copies.

Rat Queens #1 Signed by Kurtis J Wiebe and Roc Upchurch available again

Update: Third Eye Comics contacted me and have some extra copies they had signed at the store. They are letting me offer them up to you guys first. Once again, let me know if anyone is interested in getting a copy of Rat Queens 1 signed by Kurtis Wiebe and Roc Upchurch.
Email me at apopcomics@gmail.com.

update: All books and lithos are sold out. Thank you guys for buying the signed books. I will be doing it again with “Pretty Deadly” with Kelly Sue Deconnick in a few weeks. Keep an eye out for details.

update: I have four copies left and the litho has sold.

I had sold a few of these on pre-order and had a couple of people who said they were interested but didn’t end up getting them. I have 8 copies of Rat Queen #1 signed by Kurtis Wiebe and Roc Upchurch still available. Hit me up at apopcomics@gmail.com if you are interested. I also have a signed lithograph print available. There were only 30 of these made, and were produced just for the signing. The 30 prints were broken down between each of the four characters so there are less than 8 of each character made.

Diamond Comics Advanced Reorder List 9/13/13

The Diamond Comics Advanced reorder list is one of those tools that Speculators can use to figure out what is going to be hot. The books are all ones that retailers have gone back to up their orders on. This could be for several different reasons; the previous issue sold better than expected, customer’s are coming in asking about the book, a new number 1, or message board and web site chatter. This weeks does not feature any villain month books! This is great because that is all that has been featured for the past 6 weeks.

Here is this week’s advanced reorder list:

1. Star Wars: The Lucas Draft #2- The first issue sold really well and fans are clamoring for Lucas’ original vision.

2. All New X-Men #17– Really the best X-Men book on the stands.

3. All New X-Men Special #1– See above

4. Catwoman #23 2nd print– No surprise as the appearance of Jokers Daughter has caused the book to sell out the say before it came out.

5. Hinterkind #1– New Vertigo Series. Vertigo has seen a rebirth over the past two months putting out Image quality books (used to be Image was putting out Vertigo quality.)

6. Walking Dead #1 10th Anniversary Edition– Buy Walking Dead #1 for $5.99 (in Color.)

7. Nova #9– Infinity Cross over. Great Marvel book that hasn’t taken off yet, and I do not know why.

8. Forever Evil #2– The story that started Villain’s month and the villains found out Nightwing’s identity.

9. Walking Dead #115 Midnight Release Party Variant– Special edition book for those stores doing an early release. This will be huge as will the actual #115 variants.

10. Marvel Knights Spiderman #1- Let the oversaturation of Spiderman books continue.

11. Captain America Living Legend #1– This is a re-solicit.

12. Witching Hour #1- Yeah Horror comics! nine new supernatural tales by a coven of the best writers and artists VERTIGO could cram into 70 pages.

13. Mighty Avengers #2– Infinity tie in

14. Fantomex Max #1– Mysterious X-Man in his own book. This could be hot.

15. Batman #24– Mega $6.99 book continues Year Zero

‘Suicide 5’ interview with Jason Pell

We have talked a lot about Kickstarter projects being the breeding ground for hot new comics. We have seen ‘The Outliers’, ‘Watson and Holmes’, ‘Wild Blue Yonder’, ‘Voice in the Dark’, and others take off and become darlings of the secondary market. Some of these have ended up getting major distribution, and the Kickstarter variants being the ones really sought after. One book that is on my radar, ‘Suicide 5’, is being funded now, and for $20 you get the hard cover version. This one is on my radar because it is delightfully twisted in the content of the book.  Continue reading “‘Suicide 5’ interview with Jason Pell”

DC Comics Villains month covered at Examiner.com

DC Comics Villains month covered at Examiner.com

I am occasionally asked to write on Pop-Culture events for my local newspaper. The articles also run at the  Examiner.com. Here is the latest one in reference to DC’s Villains month 3d covers.

DC 3d covers week 2 results

Well we all know these were going to sell. We just didn’t know how many or how much. I sold through my first weeks covers (held my breath a little) but ended up doubling my money on them (even after ebay fees.) At first it looked sketch but it worked out.

Here is what this weeks 3d covers are going for.

Diamond Comics Advanced reorder list 9/6/13

The Diamond Comics advanced reorder list used to be speculation gold. You could see what was gaining interest and causing retailers to scramble to get copies before final order cut off. You would see which books would be selling out early. Now, and for the past 5 weeks, it has been about Dc Villains month. The reorders on this week’s list are no surprise as retailers scrambled to get the standard cover of each book as their 3-d books had been allocated.

There are a couple of gems worth looking out for on here though:

1. Batman The Dark Knight #23.4 Joker’s Daughter Standard cover
2. Justice League #23.4 Secret Society Standard cover

15. Saga #13 2nd print- #13 was the return of the series, orders were low and sold out quickly. Now regular readers who missed out on first prints will have to settle for seconds. (that is why I am an every Wednesday guy) 1st prints still available.

18. Wolverine and X-Men #36

Top 100 Hottest Comics and Recent Back issues during late August 2013

This list is updated every 2 weeks.  This list is compiled from my non-stop research of the current market.   I believe these were the most demand and growing in value books this month.     This list focuses on all regular edition covers.  (Variants are not listed otherwise they would likely dominate the entire list due to instant high prices and calculated small print runs).   If you think I have missed any hot titles/issues of the last 5 years please let me know.  Here are my picks of what I believe are the hottest comics at this very moment from all sold releases of the last few years online based on back issue sales ABOVE cover price.

Note these are all the “hot” recent sold comics that your comic shops will not have still on the shelf for cover price.  However many speculators will hunt their local comic shops looking for that “hot” book that is still on the shelf – sometimes you find them!

This market report is based on very current constant online sales.  Number of sales online above cover and the amount above cover price are the criteria I use for ranking books highest on the list.

DC 3-d covers, which ones were you able to get

Just a quick question to you all, which covers did you get in the 3-d variant? Please respond in the comment section. Spoke to some retailers who said they didn’t bother putting them out, just were selling them on ebay. Spoke to others who were charging a premium. What were your experiences at your local store today? I hit Third Eye Comics in Annapolis Maryland today and they had a ton of each cover. Around noon today they still had all the covers in stock, limit one per customer, at cover price.
