Spiderman Into the Spiderverse is an incredible movie. I finally got to see it on New Year’s Eve with my son Joe. The mashing of multiple versions of Spider-Men (and Women) was a blast and set the collecting world on fire. Miles Morales, Spider-Man Noir, Peter Porker, Spider-Man 2099 (the after credit scene is a blast, will put it at the bottom if you haven’t seen it), and Spider Gwen all got boosts to their first appearances as a result. But, was there a time that Spider-men from all over the multi-verse got together before? Continue reading “Origin Stories: Spiderman Into the Spiderverse”

Superheroes Continue to be Key Players in Both Cinemas and Slots

Source: Aquaman via Facebook.
2018 has truly been the year of the superhero movie. Of course, you could make a reasonable case for many of the preceding years also staking a claim to that accolade, but 2018 has ratcheted up superhero cinematic fare to the next level. With February’s Black Panther predicted to make waves at the Oscars and April’s Avengers: Infinity War needing no explanation, the momentum of superhero movies is showing no signs of subsiding. Four Comic Book Villains Who Love to Gamble
In order to have the complete pantheon of comic book characters, a cruel yet charismatic villain is essential. We want someone who we love to hate, but who’s complex enough to still evince some small amount of sympathy. They have to be boorish but believable, horrible but with a humorous wit that has us not wanting to see the back of them. And they have to be placed in context. They need cronies and sets that make them jump off the page as a fully formed person, and one place that every good bad guy loves to hang out is the casino. From the Joker to Two-Face, the Penguin to Chance, here are four villains who really enjoy a flutter.

Spoilers: Action Comics #1006 The Return of one of Superman’s Earliest Artifacts

Action Comics #1006 is in stores tomorrow. It reveals the identity of the leader of the Invisible Mafia that is secretly controlling the city of Metropolis. Now, I am not a Superman reader, so let me know if this is a first appearance or just an identity reveal, but whichever, she has big things in store for Superman and possibly Clark Kent. Plus, the final two page spread really knocked me off my feet. Continue reading “Spoilers: Action Comics #1006 The Return of one of Superman’s Earliest Artifacts”

Luck of the Draw: Comic Book Characters With the Power of Luck
Comic book characters have long been entertaining us and showing off their badass superpowers with everything from super strength to mind control. Each one has a unique ability which makes them more powerful than the average human and they use them to fight off the bad guys. But not all of them have outwardly obvious powers like turning into a giant green monster.
As the late Stan Lee himself stated, “the greatest superpower is luck” – and that’s exactly the power that some of these superheroes have. Here are three of the most exceptionally lucky superheroes that you need to know about. Continue reading “Luck of the Draw: Comic Book Characters With the Power of Luck”

Cheap Slabs on eBay
Welcome to the Christmas to New Year glut in comics. The Final Order Cut off list is pretty empty this week, Wednesday only sees 11 new books (not including collected editions or variants), and the following week isn’t looking better. Doing what I normally do, I scour eBay looking for deals, mistyped titles, and cheap slabs. A ton of people are dumping books at blowout prices for a little extra cash for the holidays. Here are some highlights of deals on eBay right now. Continue reading “Cheap Slabs on eBay”
