Diamond Comics Advance Reorder List for 10/9/17

comics_diamond_comic_distributors_inc
The Diamond Comics Advance Reorder List is a great speculator tool. It shows what books retailers are going back to get more of, in advance of their release. They are actually putting their money up betting these books get big. These are the books people are talking about in shops, message boards, and websites. Here is the Diamond Comics Advance for 10/9/17: Continue reading “Diamond Comics Advance Reorder List for 10/9/17”

One Year Later: 9/21/16, 9/28/16 and 10/5/16 Spec Review

What up CHUn-Li’s!?! Shawn B., the One Year Later Investigator,  back with another One Year Later round up.   This is where we take a look at some of the comics that Anthony, Mel and Poyo specced on one year ago. Their specs turn out to be quick flips, slow burns, straight up misses, straight up winners and on and on. Sometimes they spec with their hearts out of their passion for comics. Sometimes they spec based on data. And sometimes they spec based off the word on the street. Either way, all their specs appeal to a few or many collectors whether it is due to them having similar taste in writing or art, or just an opportunity for a collector to flip a book and make money to “support their habit”. So, this is our weekly chance to look back at how some of our buys from a year ago are doing today. Continue reading “One Year Later: 9/21/16, 9/28/16 and 10/5/16 Spec Review”

NYCC Image Comics Announcement: INFIDEL

Bestselling writer and former Vertigo editor Pornsak Pichetshote and artist Aaron Campbell give horror a new name in the forthcoming INFIDEL set to launch from Image Comics this March 2018.
Rife with political undertones, the new series will explore Islamophobia through a haunting and chilling story about one American Muslim woman and her multi-ethnic neighbors who move into a building haunted by creatures that feed on xenophobia.  Continue reading “NYCC Image Comics Announcement: INFIDEL”

NYCC Day 3 Wrap Up

Saturday was a more chill day. I had the chance to do less running around and spend more time actually getting to see the sites and sounds of not only NYCC but New York City as well. Poyo insists on eating well while on tour. Tyson B. is more like me and likes chill food (Hooters on time Square was nixed by Poyo, but we did see Keenan from Keenan and Peele at the restaurant we went to tonight.)
Here is my wrap up for day three. Poyo should be working on the Cos-Play gallery tonight or tomorrow.  Continue reading “NYCC Day 3 Wrap Up”

Self Published Spotlight: Vs: Vamps Vs. Wolves

One of my favorite things about going around cons is talking to self published artists and writers and talking about their books. I ran into Scott Blair at Baltimore Comic Con two weeks ago and picked up his book, VS: Vamps Vs Wolves #1 and VS: Vamps Vs Wolves #2. Continue reading “Self Published Spotlight: Vs: Vamps Vs. Blind Adam's Hidden Gems Vol. 63

Greetings to my Comics Heating Up and Awesomesauce families. I would like to say thank you for reading this each and every week.  As always thank you for the friendship, encouragement, advice, and support. I love being a part of this and it is the greatest blessing in my life.

Poyo's Picks for Oct, 4th 2017

NYCC is upon us. Come and find me if you can, probably hanging with Anthony for the most part. What? People give him free stuff, I like free stuff. 🙂
This week is a pretty good week I think for comics, lots of pulls and readers, lots of potential specs as well. We can spec all we want but we truly never know until the books hit the stands. What we thought could be a good spec could turn dud while the one we thought was going to be a reader copy turns out to be the book everyone wants.
