Friday The 13th TV Series eyed for the CW network

friday-the-13th-2009__140530202621

In news that really hit my fanboy side, Deadline reported the CW network would be making a Friday the 13th TV series. Of course this one would be more closely tied to the movies than the 1980’s show that had nothing in common but the name. Continue reading “Friday The 13th TV Series eyed for the CW network”

Dark Knight 3 1:5000 Hand Drawn Jim Lee Sketch cover

It was there yesterday, I swear. A comic shop in Virginia Beach named Comic Kings had a listing for a 1 in 5000 hand drawn Jim Lee sketch cover for the upcoming Dark Knight III: The Master Race #1. The listing has since been removed. Needless to say, there will be at least one shop ordering 5,000 copies of Dark Knight III: The Master Race #1, and yes, there will be a 1:5000 variant. Bayou Bound review

AUG151300

Hey what’s up CHU? Mel the Movie Guy here. When I first started reading comics I tended to shy away from the Graphic Novel section, for reasons I do not understand till to this day. So when writer Jeff Kaufman contacted me and said he was going to send me an advanced look at the Bayou Bound graphic novel he had been working on, I thought to myself “this is going to take me weeks to read”. Boy was I wrong. I ripped right through it. Continue reading “Bayou Bound review”

Big things come in low prints

Hey, CHU, it’s DrunkWooky. Back from the depths of despair which is bar exam preparation and back to what really matters…comics!

If you’re a CHU reader, you probably have heard some contributors talk about low print runs. We care because, obviously, if something heats up and has a print run in the low thousands, that can mean huge value increases. Most of the time this is an advanced prediction. Notwithstanding retailer exclusives where tiny print runs are part of the advertised allure of collectability, we usually don’t know actual numbers until after the fact. Black Mask Signing with Matthew Rosenberg and Matt Pizzolo

I usually come in here the day of a signing to say how things went. Usually say nice things about the creators for taking the time out to do the signing. I hadn’t done so up until this point. Sadly, I ended up very sick (had pneumonia) and ended up in bed for a couple of days until the antibiotics kicked in. Also, this was the reason for the lack of posts at the end of last week. If you are still interested in signed copies you can pick up copies of Young Terrorists #1 Third Eye Variant, We Can Never Go Home Again #2 Dag Nasty Homage, We Can Never Go Home Again #3 SSD Homage straight from Third Eye Comics on eBay.

Variant Envy: GI Joe #217 Storm Shadow Action Figure Variant

StormShadowPack

Now that I have the Snake Eyes and Baroness covers, I must get the next one in the series. I haven’t been keen on many of the Marvel Action Figure covers as for the most part they haven’t been real ones, but these GI Joe ones make me nostalgic, and makes me wish the younger me would have not opened his toys and saved them for later. (I could have been rich I tell ya.) Continue reading “Variant Envy: GI Joe #217 Storm Shadow Action Figure Variant”

One to Watch: X-Men #8

There was a lot of rumbling over the past few weeks if the Gambit movie would be made. At first, there was rumors that Channing Tatum was not going to go through with the movie. Then it came out that he was going to go through with it. So it looks like the movie will be happening. With that, we have a book to be on the look out for. Continue reading “One to Watch: X-Men #8”

Just for Fun, 1994 Fantastic Four Trailer

Sorry for being away for a couple of days. In addition to the Black Mask signing this weekend, I have also been terribly sick. After a few nights of crashing out early, I am back on the mend and trying to get things back on track. With that said, I came across this gem again. The 1994 Fantastic Four movie trailer for the Roger Corman directed film. Just goes to show there was a time when the Marvel Cinematic Universe was not so great.

It has been a little while since I offered a signing opportunity. I used to do them about once or twice a month. Things get busy and sadly I had to cut down on the amount of signings I was doing and offering. This is one I could not pass up.
